The United
Junkyard Dawgs are an incredibly talented and motivated TEAM. The Dawgs made it to their second consecutive VYSA final four
appearance by defeating the Burke Athletic Real Blue 6-0, fought back and
defeated a very skilled and determined Mclain Titans Green team in a thrilling
6-4 come from behind victory followed by a dominant 3-0 win over the PWSI
Courage on CSL home turf. Over the
past weekend, the Dawgs traveled to Williamsburg to compete in the VYSA State
Cup Semi-Finals. In the semis, the Dawgs found themselves down a goal early,
but played with poise and confidence and rallied to notch a 4-2 win over the
Great Falls Rangers.
Having
progressed to the State Cup Finals, Sunday's match pitted the Dawgs against the
reigning State Cup Champion TASC Stripes.
The Dawgs, despite a strong start, found themselves down 1-0 at the
half. Early in the second half, TASC struck again and at this point the Dawgs
came alive and scored shortly thereafter on a beautiful diving header by James
with a perfect service from Joe.
True to their form, the Dawgs never relented and had TASC on their heels
for most of the second half. Incredibly, with their keeper down and out, TASC
somehow averted three opportunities within their six yard box to deny the Dawgs
from leveling the score despite the TEAM's best efforts and the will of the
Pound.
Humble in
victory and gracious in defeat, the United Junkyard Dawgs represented
themselves, their TEAM, their families, their club and the Southside soccer
scene with honor. Congratulations
to the boys (and girl) on a historic and tremendous accomplishment.--The Coaching
Staff and Team Mom
