Football and Cheerleading Sign Ups!

2009 Cordova Wolves Football and Cheerleading Sign Ups!

Saturday July 11th
From:  11 am to 1 pm

Cost:  Football $270 
          Cheerleading $350

Where:  Bert Ferguson Community Center on Trinity Road

What to bring: 
1.  COPY of birth certificate (for first year participants only)
2.  Payment for fees
 
Cordova Wolves Bowling Party!
 
Date:  July 18th from 11 am - 1pm
Where:  Billy Hardwick Bowling Lanes 1576 S. White Station Road
Cost:  $7 a person (includes bowling and shoe rental)
          $25 for a family (up to 5 family members)
 
This is a wonderful chance for our new families to meet the coaches and players and for the returning families to catch up with old friends!
 
We will have a table set up for anyone to sign up that can't make the sign up on July 11th.  It is extremely important that you DO NOT wait until the first day of practice to sign up.  NO player will be able to practice until all paperwork is turned in and half of their fees have been paid.  We don't want players waiting in line trying to sign up on the first day, we want them on the fields practicing! 
 
Spirit wear will be available for purchase at DISCOUNTED prices!
 
The bowling center's concession stand will be open to purchase drinks and snacks!
 
 
 


Cordova Cheer 2009 Information:
Welcome to Cordova Cheer 2009!
 
We are getting ready for a FANTASTIC season!
 
We are ready to welcome back our cheerleaders from last year and are looking for more girls to join our squads!
 
Ages:  6 - 13
 
Fee:  $350 
 
Fee Includes:  uniform, poms, warm-ups, practice t-shirts and shorts, SYS fees, SYS cheer camp fee, team pictures, trophy, cheerleader banquet ticket, hair bows, and team cheer supplies. 
 
Everything is included except white tennis shoes!
 
First practice will be July 23rd at our football field - Floyd Bryan Park on Collierville-Arlington Road.
 
Practice schedules will be created once we have a better idea how many cheerleaders we will have.  We welcome all girls and do NOT have try-outs.  We believe that all the girls deserve the chance to cheer and develop their skills!
  
Squads will be divided by age and cheerleaders will cheer for football games on Saturdays!
 
We will attend one competition - We did a SUPER JOB last year and need to go back and do even better this year!

CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP RECAPS - 11/17
Great job players, cheerleaders and coaches on a memorable day of playoff football Saturday, you certainly put on a show we will always remember. We aren’t finished yet and will need everyone’s help this week in order to bring home 2 more championships to Cordova.

In case you weren’t able to make it out Saturday, here is a brief recap.

The Seniors were out to avenge a loss earlier in the season to the Southwind Titans, the Wolfpack stuffed the Titans all day long as Southwind was unable to move the ball against Cordova in the first half, to the Titans credit they as well played great defense allowing Cordova to move the ball, but kept Cordova out of the endzone resulting in a 0-0 halftime score. The 3rd quarter provided much of the same between both teams with Cordova still unable to capitalize on Titan mistakes. The 4th quarter proved that persistence pays off and Cordova was up the challenge driving the ball deep in Southwind territory behind great blocking of the offensive line and hard running finally posting a score to take a 6-0 lead. Southwind did not give up and mounted one last offensive charge but the Wolfpack defense proved to be up to the challenge and shut the door on the Titans inside the 10yard line with under 2 minutes play. Cordova took over possession of the ball and ran out the clock for a hard fought and well deserved 6-0 victory and advancing the Cordova SR Team to the SYS Championship game next week against the Brownsville Rd. Broncos.

 

The PeeWees proved that “its not over till its over”. The Whitehaven Raiders posted an early score to take a 7-0 lead in the first half, Cordova was able to move the ball, but could not score with the Raiders coming up with big stops when needed. The Wolfpack regrouped at halftime and came out focused and determined to take control of the game. A 2nd half drive behind hard-nosed blocking and great running put the Wolfpack on the board but a failed conversion attempt kept the Raiders in front 7-6 heading late into the 4th quarter. A Cordova drive late in the game ended with Whitehaven taking over with less than 4 minutes in the game and the ball inside the Cordova 20 yard line. Whitehaven drove the ball inside the Cordova 10 yard line poised to put the game away, with a 4th a goal from the 7 yard line the Whitehaven RB drove to the endzone but was hit hard and stopped inside the 1 yard line where Cordova took over with 2 minutes remaining in the game. So Cordova prepared one last attempt looking at the entire length of the field between them and victory. A few tough runs moved the ball forward and then a big hole on the left side netted a huge run to the Whitehaven 25 yard line with a minute remaining. A few plays later the left side opened up a huge hole moving the ball inside the Whitehaven 10 yard line, but the clock was running 20 seconds remaining, an attempt at scoring came up short and the Wolfpack hurried into position for one last shot, with the snap of the ball just before the clock hit 0:00 #5 raced off the left side into the endzone for a game winning touchdown resulting in a 12-7 Cordova victory. A storybook ending but we still have one final chapter to write next week as Cordova will take on the Haywood Tomcats for the SYS PeeWee Championship.

CORDOVA WOLFPACK SENIORS
The Cordova Wolfpack Senior team finished off the 2008 season with a dominating performance in the SYS Championship game against the Brownsville Rd Broncos. This team went through the playoffs without allowing any points and defeated 3 very good teams. This the VERY FIRST Senior Divison Championship for the Cordova program and we are extremely proud of the players, coaches and parents.
 
CORDOVA WOLFPACK PEE-WEES
The Cordova Wolfpack PeeWee team came up short on there bid for gold against a very skillful Haywood County Tomcat opponent. Cordova had flashes of power and poise that got them to the Championship game but the Tomcats had it dialed in and would not be denied. This Cordova team should be very proud of there accomplishments, during there  playoff run they defeated teams they lost to in the regular season, great job to all players, coaches and parents, you are Champions everyday to us!!!
