    Hello Wildcats!

Just a quick note to let everyone have the latest game schedule and practice reminder.  PLEASE make sure your boys are at all the remaining practices.

We have not had very good luck with everyone being able to attend practices lately.  If our boys are going to progress as baseball players we have to figure out a way to make sure they attend all practices/games and more importantly to work at home on their skills and conditioning.

We have made good progress the last week and I know everyone wants to continue on the right path.  Thanks in advance for your help :-)

    Practices

    2 May Update
    May 2, 2007 - 03:00 PM
    Hello Wildcats!

I know this is last minute but I forgot that our field was going to be used for a game this evening.  We have cages at Renz from 7pm – 8:30 tonight so we can get some hitting in.

Also, just an FYI...i’m trying to schedule games for Friday night and Saturday afternoon.  I’ll send out an email as soon as I have it nailed down.

In other news, I have rescheduled both of our upcoming Wednesday night games 5/9 vs. Brookwood and 5/16 vs SG Renegades to 5/20 vs Brookwood @ 6:30pm – SHP (now a double header) and 5/25 vs SG Renegades @ 7:30pm – SHP.

I’ll send out a new schedule of remaining games and practices.

    Thanks and Go Cats!

End of Year Tourney @ Panama City
    March 26, 2007 - 08:00 PM
End of Year Tourney @ Panama City

I have committed us to stay at Celadon Beach Resort Condominiums.  The link is
    http://celadon-beach-resort.panama-city-beach.com/

These are very cool because they are large condos with extra sleeping accommodations and wonderful amenities for families.  The 1 bedroom condos sleep 6 and have a separate king room and a room with a queen sleeper sofa and a bunk bed.  The 2 bedroom condos sleep 8 and have an extra bunk bed.  The list prices are as follows:

1 bedroom condo – $215.50 ea night or $1,556.50 for the stay 6/25 checking out 7/1
2 bedroom condo - $312.50 ea night or $2,231.08 for the stay 6/25 checking out 7/1

The resort is calling me back tomorrow to let me know the final prices (maybe a small discount) and to confirm our group.  Each family will need to make their own reservation off of our group agreement.  I’ll let everyone know the details as soon as I know them.

We will have to act fast (within a couple of days) to hold all the condos and to make sure we end up close to each other.  Anyway, take a look at the site, I think you’ll like it!

    Go Cats!!

Next 2 Weeks and End of Year Tournament

    Hello Wildcats!

The good news is we have our best baseball in front of us.   The bad news is we haven’t played anywhere near our potential yet.  The coaches are confident as I know you are that the boys will start to get their groove on after spring break.

We won’t have any practices or games for the next two weeks.  I hope this will give the guys and parents a much needed break with some fun activities and or travel planned.  Our first game after the break is on Wednesday April 11th at 7pm vs. Buford.  Since this will be our first official home game of the season, I  know we’ll be ready.

I’m trying to find out the schedule for our field (rec ball etc) so that we can get a practice in on Monday and Tuesday the 9th and 10th to get back in the swing of things.

We have a very big double header with Collins Hill on following Saturday the 14th starting at 4pm.  The games with Collins Hill are very personal for me and I suspect for some of the boys as well.  Let’s be ready for these guys and give them all they can handle.

I have committed us to the Simply the Best World Series in Panama City June 25 – July 1st.  As many of you know, the Cocoa Beach Expo tournament has become sketchy at best.  They have sold their property and it’s unknown  whether they will be able to find facilities for the tournament.  At best, it will be all over the place.  At worst, it will be canceled.  I don’t think anyone wants to take the chance that we will be canceled and have no way of getting into a tournament at the last minute.

The link to the website is http://www.simplythebestbaseball.com/

I am working on accommodations for Panama City and will let everyone know as soon as I have it worked out.

I’ll let everyone know about the practice schedule as soon as I get word back.  In the meantime, everyone have a great time off and we’ll see you back on Monday the 9th.

    23-25 March travel baseball
    March 23, 2007 - 01:00 PM Hello Wildcats!

There is some confusion regarding the times and locations for this weekends games.  I have talked to the coaches for our opponents and here is the schedule.

    Saturday 2:30pm @ Buford – Field 4
    Sunday 5:30pm @ South Gwinnett – Field 3

Please be at the park one hour before game time.  See you there.

    Go Cats!

Wildcats Hurler Bicknese grants rare interview and picture and talks candidly
    March 1, 2007
    ESPN-Gwinnett, 1 Mar 2007

Wildcats Hurler Bicknese grants rare interview and picture and talks candidly to reporter..

Wildcats hurler Alec 'the hitman' Bicknese was on the mound for a game in Duluth last week against local rivals.
All digital pictures of Alec have been removed from the baseball archives in a unprecedented move by MLB. Alec's lawyer has a impending injunction against any and all digital pictures of him and any pictures of him within 1000 yards of any baseball diamond.

In an ESPN-Gwinnett exclusive interview Alec reveals his motivation and determination not be be captured on any type of media prior to the start of the season: Alec's interview follows:

Reporter: Alec how is your arm this year and what are your expectations for the season?

    Alec:
My arm is feeling real good this spring and I look forward to a great year with 10-15 wins total.

    Reporter:
Why are there no pictures of you on the diamond this spring?

    Alec:
Well my curve is nasty. I mean really nasty. And I am trying my hardest to keep this from the public and opposing teams. And...by the way..I have three different types of curves this year!

    Reporter:
Please by all means..do tell !!

    Alec:
Well I will tell you about only two of them for now and the third one will be revealed some this spring in my first couple of starts:
My number one curve is called the "McNasty". It has the normal grip but with my first two fingers crossed. With a quick whip of the wrist this comes out of my hand and actually spins in two different directions throughout the flight of the ball to the strike zone. Hehehehe...
My number two curve is called the "sneezer". The small finger part of my glove is left overnight in a day care center/clinic. By game time we stop by the clinic and pick it up re-attach the small finger portion of the glove and it is literally dripping with cold, flu, type of germs. I only touch this part of my glove with I am throwing the "sneezer". Again the normal grip and my release is like a flinging motion, almost like I am flinging snot or something. As it goes by the batter at a high rate of speed the germs fly in their face and usually before they have a chance to load up for a swing they are sneezing like crazy. Its crazy and unique and defies reality, really! In fact during the Midway tourney when I threw it.. The kid sneezed so hard he peed his pants a little bit. Hehehe..

Reporter: So its your pitching technique you are try to shield?

Alec: Of course! I think i just said that. You know I am only 13 and a half right?

Reporter: (scratches his head) Oh. Ok. We are just trying to better understand why you were not in the team picture on the website...What Gives?

Alec: WHAT!!! Your kidding right!! Someone is going to get fired for that!

    COACH! MOM! DAD!
    I need your help here..

Reporter: Alec you are an awesome pitcher and we hope that you see it in your heart to release a photo to accompany todays interview. We also want to thank you for your time and awesome-ness, if that is an actual word. Thanks Hitman!

    Alec: (Long hearty deep laugh)....
Espn huh?...Here you go Whitey... here is a Polaroid for the article. Now get out of my face dude. NOW !!!! Take Care. Hehehehe

Pro Scouts visit Shorty Howell Park
    February 23, 2007 - 09:30 PM

    Wildcats!!!

Just in case you missed it two pro scouts from the Oakland A’s were in the bleachers last night to check out the Wildcats 13U team. One of the visiting scouts owns a local newspaper and conducted an interview with one of the coaches after the game against Buford.

Here are some of the excerpts from that interview:

A’s hottie scout: Hey Coach the team is looking kind of flat out there on the diamond. What happened and why couldn't your team score?

Wildcat Coach: Well, baseball is a funny sport and sometimes the players get streaky and somewhat inconsistent. We came out tonight kind of stiff and never really got loose during the game at all.

A’s hottie scout: Is it true that one of your players is going to sign a contract with GAC this year for Fall ball?

Wildcat Coach: A number of our player are already committed to various schools like North Carolina, Stanford, Texas, Georgia and of course GAC.

A’s hottie scout: When your team is in a slump, what is the trigger to getting them out of it?

Wildcat Coach: Sometimes it can be as simple as going out and eating some hotwings and letting them check out the babes. As long as they are in bed by 11pm we are going to be ok. They are only 13 years old you know.

A’s hottie scout: Your right coach. Good point. Exactly what can you attribute to their overall stud-li-ness !!! They seem way pumped up and ready to go.

Wildcat Coach: Well...good parenting, good coaches, vitamins, milk, good workouts..you know the theme..Baseball hotdogs, apple pie and Chevrolets…

A’s hottie scout: (laughs) Of course. Coach what do you see as your biggest challenge this summer during the long schedule?

Wildcat Coach: (in typical John Dean ...I’m freaking out fashion) The biggest thrill will be our long journey to victory...we are gonna start in Duluth then on to North Gwinnett, South Gwinnett, Dacula, Buford, California, then on to the White House and Congress, AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR  (whimper, whimper, whimper).

A’s hottie scout:  Uh….ok thanks coach and good luck with that….

    Awesome Job !!!
    Wildcat Players and Families...

Awesome job by everyone involved during the Midway blast off tourney out in Cumming Georgia last weekend...!!!!

We had a lot of fun and fellowship and If you didn't notice we start our first game of the day with a team prayer !

Lets get ready for this weekends activities and ensure we understand the games that our scheduled, how to get there, we need to have uniforms clean, energy type of food plan for the players, ensure we check the weather (you can do that from this site actually) and lets be prepared to play some great baseball.

We look forward to seeing you all at practice and our games this weekend.

We have plenty of photos online and would like to hear what you think of the team website and what we could do to continue to improve it!!

    Midway Blast Off Tournament
    February 20, 2007
    Hello Wildcats!

Congratulations on a successful debut at the Midway Blast Off Tournament!  We really had a fun run before we ran out of gas against North Gwinnett.  Everyone who was at the park for our games on our competitors side now knows we are a team to be reckoned with.

We had some great individual performances throughout the tournament on the mound, on defense as well as at the dish and I know everyone will join me in saying we are very proud of the way our young men played and handled themselves.  We truly played like a team in victory and keeping the team theme, we all ran out of gas together at the same time.

The tournament showed we have heart, skills and determination.  These are admirable qualities.  It also showed we still have work to do to get closer to our potential as a team.

Let’s work extra hard for the next couple of weeks so we are ready for Lawrenceville when the GGBL season opens.  I’ll see if we can get a practice game or two set up before then just to keep us sharp.

Wildcats Take Midway Park by Storm !!!!
    February 17, 2007
    Cumming, Ga

Duluth Wildcats appeared to have the upper hand, lower hand and dominate hand during the first day of the Midway Park Blast Off tournament Saturday 17 February.

In the first of a double header for the team Greg Lenox lead the way with lights out pitching and two (2) knockout home run shots. The second shot to left center was a grand slam that cleared the bases.

The second game was a contest for the first two innings that left the two teams tied at 2-2 until Wildcat pitching kicked in and shutdown the opponent. The Wildcats finished the game strong with outstanding defense and hard nosed base running as well.

Great Job Wildcats !  Good Hunting in the final rounds.
