COACHES MEETING TO BE ANNOUNCED !!!!!
THE DATE AND TIME OF 2009 FALL COACHES MEETING WILL BE ANNOUNCED SOON. ALL SELECTED COACHES WILL BE NOTIFIED.
2009 Fall in-town Try-outs
Dear Parent: (Please read carefully!)
The Fort Lee Soccer League will be holding its’ tryouts on both Saturday, May 30th (for the Freshman, Girls & Boys Senior Division) and Monday, June 1st (for the Sophomore, and Boys Junior division) at the Fort Lee Community Center (which is just off of Anderson Ave). Since your child is either a new player in our program or is moving up to another age division, he/she must attend our soccer “tryouts” in order to be selected onto a team. Each player will be asked to perform several basic soccer drills to properly evaluate everyone’s skill level as every attempt will be made to ensure that there is parity among all of the teams. Everyone will be contacted in mid-August by their coach to inform them of their first practice date.
The following are the times for each respective age group:
SATURDAY, MAY 30th
• Freshman Division (players born between August 1, 2001 through July 31, 2003)-4:00 PM- Players with their last names beginning with the letters A through L
4:45 PM- Players with their last names beginning with the letters M through Z
• Boys Senior Division (players born between August 1, 1995 through July 31, 1997)- 5:45 PM
• Girls Division (players born between August 1, 1995 through July 31, 1999)-6:45 PM
MONDAY, JUNE 1st
• Sophomore Division (players born between August 1, 1999 through July 31, 2001)- 6:15 PM- Players with their last names beginning with the letters A through K
7:00 PM- Players with their last names beginning with the letters L through Z
• Boys Junior Division (players born between August 1, 1997 through July 31, 1999)- 7:45 PM
No one will be allowed to try-out inside the gymnasium with soccer cleats so please be sure that your child is wearing either indoor soccer shoes or sneakers (something they would not be permitted to do in a game in the outdoor season). Soccer cleats are mandatory once practices begin in August. Failure to attend the try-out will result in either:
• A $40 fine (as per league rules) being imposed on each registrant or…Termination from the program.
This is done to ensure that each family is making a serious commitment in participating in our program and not seeing the program as a “baby-sitting service”. Unfortunately, there may be a few legitimate cases that come up, but we do not have the time to investigate everyone to find out if their reason for missing the draft was valid. All of the Fort Lee Soccer League’s Board members and coaches are volunteers and have dedicated many hard hours in ensuring that the program is run in an organized and orderly manner and have arranged their plans to ensure their presence on both days. The only excuse would be a Little League baseball game or in-town girls softball game, since we have access to those schedules. In that event, please e-mail us at least 3 days prior to your child’s scheduled date at boardmembers@fortleesoccer.com for additional information.
Please ensure that your child arrives prepared and on time. Despite receipt of this letter, please remember that your child is not officially registered with the League until they attend the tryout! Thank you for your cooperation and look forward to seeing you.
