2009 Season Registration 2009 Player Registration Form
Registration for the 2009 season continues on Wednesday, July 1 at McCurdy field from 6:00opm - 8:00pm. There will be no registration on Saturday, July 4. Registration will continue through the end of July every Wednesday (6:00pm-8:00pm) and Saturday (9:00am-noon) at McCurdy Field. The registration form is available under the Handouts section as well as by clicking on the link above.

FYFL Board and Coach's Meeting July 15, 2009 - 06:00 PM
The next FYFL Board meeting is Wednesday, July 15 at 6:00pm at the Frederick Armory - building is near the Baker Park band shell. All board members are expected to attend. All coaches are also invited to attend - Varsity, JV and Flag - as well as parents. Thanks and see you then!

Football Players Camps This Summer
There are two USA Football camps for players coming to the area this summer, as well as football camps at some of the local high schools. The information is as follows - USA Football Player Academy in Northern VA
- July 6 - July 9, 8:00am - 4:30pm, Episcopal High School, 1200 N. Quaker Lane, Alexandria, VA 22302. $225 - many slots still available for 9-13 year olds; USA Football Player Academy in Maryland
- July 20 - July 23, 8:00am - 4:30pm, Annapolis Area Christian School, Severn, MD. $225 - many slots still available for 9-13 year olds; Tuscarora Football Camp at Tuscarora H.S., Frederick, MD
- August 10 - August 13 - 4:00pm - 7:00pm.
56th FYFL Season Opening Ceremony
The 56th FYFL season kicked off early Saturday morning, August 30th. Technical difficulties delayed the player introductions a little, but eventually all the players and coaches were introduced to the parents and fans in attendance.
The opening ceremonies continued with a rousing rendition of the National Anthem and a prayer. This was followed by a few inspiring words from former FYFL coach and current Frederick city Mayor Holtzinger, who then threw out the opening pass to one of the Colts' varsity players.
The FYFL cheerleaders closed things out by unveiling one of the new cheers for the 2008 season.

About the FYFL
The Frederick Youth Football League is a non-profit organization charted to provide a positive after school program to assist our youth of Frederick County to achieve their highest potential as they develop their skill sets into caring, confident and competent individuals. Players ages 8-13*, male or female, who reside in Frederick County are eligible for play. Each season, approximately 250 children play on six varsity and six junior varsity teams. We are going into our 55th season, and hope you will join us for the upcoming 2008 season.

* Age cutoff is August 1st. 13 year olds entering the 9th grade are not eligible for play in FYFL. We encourage all Freshmen to play for their High School Team. *
FYFL Objective
Our objective is to implant firmly in the children of the community the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage, and reverence for authority so that they may be well adjusted, stronger, and happier children and will grow to be good, decent, healthy, and trustworthy citizens.
To achieve this objective FYFL will provide a supervised program under the rules and regulations of the league. All directors, officers, and members shall bear in mind that the attainment of exceptional athletic skills or the winning of game is secondary, and the molding of future citizens is of prime importance.
Mission Statement
Develop the fundamentals of the game of football- stance, blocking, tackling, running, throwing, catching, conditioning, and sportsmanship.
Develop the fundamentals of cheerleading - cheers, chants, jumps, stunts, good health and fitness, and sportsmanship.
Establish an understanding of the commitment necessary by the parents and the athletes in order to enhance success, both on and off the field.
