Irish Take Two at Billericay. Pool Play Continues Saturday
The Indiana Irish packed plenty of offense for this tourney and put it on display Wednesday night with a pair of pool play victories at Hamilton Southeastern. In game one, the Irish held off a late rally to defeat the Carmel Pups 11-10. The Irish used 3 pitchers in the final inning as Derek O'Connor put the feisty Cubs away with a strikeout to notch the save. Trevor Clark had the big bat on his birthday going 1 for 2 with an rbi to get the Irish going early. Offensively, the Irish had 0 strikeouts in this game.
In game two, the Irish defeated the HSE Cats 12-8. The Irish scored 7 times in the first inning and backed it up with quality pitching from Caleb Arkins and Luke Smock. Like his dad, Connor Drews provided the fireworks in this game going 2 for 3 with a double and 3 rbi. His biggest highlight happened on defense as he gunned down a runner at the plate with a bullseye from left field. David Roth had a big night at the plate with a pair of hits and nearly went deep with a double to left field.
Pool Play continues on Saturday vs. the Longhorns at 9am. We will wear "Navy" jerseys on Saturday. The skills competition will begin at 11am followed by the elimination round at 2pm.

Irish Gear Up for Midwest Championships at Billericay!
For the 2nd straight weekend the Indiana Irish will face the best of the best in Central Indiana. The HSE Midwest Championships will begin this Wednesday night at Billericay Park (126th and Promise Road.) 14 teams will compete for the top prize this weekend and all players will participate in the skills competition at 11am on Saturday.
The Irish will kick off pool play with a double header on Wednesday night at 6pm vs. Carmel (field 48) and 8pm vs. HSE Cats (field 47). Pool play will wrap up Saturday morning at 9am vs. the Longhorns on field 47.
We will wear "white" with stirrups on Wednesday night. "Navy" on Saturday and "Green" if we get to Sunday.

Irish Win Summer Slam! Defeat Lightning in Extra Innings 7-6
The Indiana Irish defeated the Franklin Twp. Lightning 7-6 in extra innings to capture the Summer Slam Tourney championship at Indianapolis Sports Park on Sunday. Derek O'Connor pitched six strong innings before turning things over to Aidan Parker who got the win in relief. Down to their final out, the Irish got three straight singles including a clutch rbi from Jarrett Caster to tie the game and force extra innings. In the bottom of the 7th, an alert Luke Smock scored the winning run on an errant throw from the left fielder.
This win marks the second tourney championship of the season for the Irish who also won the Greensburg Spring Swing back in May. The Irish trailed early on 3-0 before chipping away and getting a game tying base hit from Connor Drews in the 5th.
Practice makes perfect. The irish amped up their practice schedule last week and it paid off. We'll go Tuesday and Thursday this week before invading Noblesville Field of Dreams. Details on the way via email.
