    TIPS FROM THE COACH
Only the strong survive! The primary difference between a stud Freshman baseball player and a stud Senior is strength. The Freshman can swing it. He can “pick it.” It's just that his best shot goes all the way to the outfielder while the Senior's goes into the trees!

I am frequently asked for advise about strength and conditioning programs for young ballplayers. I am not a big fan of weight training for prepubescent ballplayers but from the time, as we say down here in Texas, they get “furred over”, it is a sprint to excellence and imperative that they work to become as strong as possible. What is important is that they work on developing “baseball strength”. Bruce Lambin www.tipsfromthecoach.com
