Mason Knothole Association, District 34 - (Mason, OH)

Mason Knothole Association (MKA) Purpose: The Mason Knothole Association stands for baseball excitement, better competition, and a commitment towards excellence involving the attitudes of players, coaches, parents, fans, and sponsors. Players should be knowledgeable and skilled in many aspects of the game, eager to learn better techniques and always display a passionate approach towards the game. Coaches should have expertise in playing and teaching the game, must be able to effectively communicate team fundamentals and strategies to the players, and never lose sight of baseball being a game for the kids to enjoy. Above all else, Mason Knothole players, managers, parents, and fans should respect the game, congratulate their opposition, support fellow teammates, and always place the needs of the team above the needs of the individual. Mason Knothole Association is a fun organization that looks to foster exciting baseball growth for many of Mason's finest young athletes.

General Announcements

Game schedules will be posted on a weekly basis. I will always have the current week and next week or two posted. Click on the "Field Schedules" link and then select the file for each respective week. Remember, it is the Managers responsibility to check the schedule regularly for any changes (especially when we have rain and games to make up / reschedule).

Also, please see the new "Tournament Brackets" page found in the left navigation bar. Brackets for the three Division 2 classes (A North, C North and C1 North) hosted by Mason will be kept here and updated daily once the tournament begins. I will also post the initial tournament brackets for the other classes (not hosted by Mason). However, this will not be kept updated on our web site. For updates to those brackets coaches will need to contact the Tournament Director for those respective classes.

Awards Night

District Awards Night for Division 2 teams – Sunday June 21 2009 at 7:00PM at Little Miami High School Stadium.

All teams that finished 1st or 2nd in their division must attend to pickup their trophies.

D teams usually like to wear their full uniform. Great photo opportunity.

C and up should at least wear there jersey and hats.

Mason Coaches of the year will also be awarded. I would like to congratulate the following coaches for outstanding commitment to youth baseball. These coaches are great role models and are committed to building a baseball foundation in young players.

Tournament Info:

Top 2 teams in West get an automatic bid to the City tourney (July 6^th through around July 31^st)
All other teams play in the district tourney (June 18 through around July 5^th)
Top 2 teams in Central qualify for the West district tournament (referred to as North Tournament)
Top 2 teams in West tournament (referred to as North Tournament) qualify for the City tournament
For some reason District 34 calls the West teams tournament the North district 34 tourney and the Central teams tournament the South district 34 tournament.

2009 Registration

New MKA Teams: Mason Knothole Association accepts the registration of TEAMS only. Managers of new teams for the 2009 season must register their team on-line no later than January 15, 2009. Instead, this form provides us mainly with your contact information so you are included on MKA communications. It also helps us plan for the coming season. Roster information and fees are not required until the February meeting. Contact the MKA New Teams Coordinator at newteams@masonknothole.org for more information.

New MKA Players: Youth baseball players looking for a team should enter profile information via this web site. There is no charge for this registration. While MKA cannot guarantee placement of new players on a team, we will communicate the New Player infomration to our 55+ Managers / teams looking for players and work with them to help place as many interested and qualified registrants as possible. 2009 Knothole FAQ's

1. Eligible Age Limits For All Classes (Over Age Players Not Allowed):
        AA Youth born on or after May 1, 1991
        A-Major Youth born on or after May 1, 1993
        A-Minor Youth born on or after May 1, 1994
        B Youth born on or after May 1, 1995
        B-1 Youth born on or after May 1, 1996
        C Youth born on or after May 1, 1997
        C-1 Youth born on or after May 1, 1998
        D Youth born on or after May 1, 1999

2. Teams must have 12 players on roster, no more than 20 (last day to add players to roster is June 1st). This rule applies to both Div1 and Div2 (West & Central) teams.

3. Players must either attend a school within Mason City Limits or reside within the Mason School District to be Mason Knothole eligible.

4. NYSCA Coaches Training: Mandatory for ALL managers and first assistant coach.  All Managers and first assistant coaches must register your NYSCA card number with MKA before taking the field in ‘08. To register, simply email your NYSCA card number and expiration date to the MKA Training Coordinator via email at training@masonknothole.org. 5. Mason Schools Spring Break is April 13-17, 2009 and will have no affect on knothole games.

6. Season begins the week of April 13th and concludes June 16th. West and Central teams will begin 2 and out county tournament June 19th. The only day games will not be played is July 4th. Non-city eligible teams should be finished on or before July 6th (weather permitting).

7. City eligible teams begin play July 7th and could play as late as July 28th depending on their successes in the 2 and out format.

8. Top two teams per division are recognized at the trophy presentation.

The Pulse Journal - "Play Ball" Website

Beginning in the 2006-07 Seasons ... The Mason Pulse Journal and The Western Star began reporting on Mason baseball teams on their new web site called "Play Ball" (access this site by clicking on the 'Links' page in the left navigation bar). Included are feature stories and photographs on teams, players, coaches, divisions, and organizational happenings. You can submit MVP nominations each week by going to the "Play Ball" website and following the instructions provided.
