March 11, 2006 On Saturday the 11th of March Sunshine held an invitational tournament for four under 18 girls teams. The tournament winners were Coylton Cougars after beating all three other teams. The hosts, midlothian sunshine were beaten once by the Cougars and finished in second place.

    Craig Nicol.
and thank you to our wonderful table officials and to the teams for coming and making the dday so enjoyable.

    The Juniors
The Junior Sunshine team have been playing together for years under the masterful coaching of Jim Mitchell. In there first season in the cadette Lothian League, under a different name, they went through the season with only one loss and won the league convincingly. Captain Cathy Mitchell also picked up MVP for the league. The next season saw the girls step up into the under 18 league where they finished third. This season however, the under 18 girls league was disappointing, to say the least, so the club opted to not play in it but instead to play a series of friendlies. Back in September they played Dunfemline Reign and won by a large margin. The juniors have also played Pentland Star, agian winning, 48-42. The girls are definetly looking like a decent squad now and they are all under 18 next season too so the future of Sunshine is looking bright!

    The Cadettes
The Sunshine Cadettes are in the under 16 lothian league this season. Led by captain Chelsea Crighton they are 3-7 so far. A close win against Polonia Pheonix started the season well but then a disappointing loss to Dunfermline Reign and a double header against the City of Edinburgh's two teams made sure the team had there work cut out for them in their up and coming games.
The girls have now won their last two games against Reign and the Wild Cats. Great defence against Reign won the game where as it was the girls long and controlled offences that stopped the Wild Cats.

    National League
This season Midlothian Sunshine has established links with East Lothian Peregrines. Players Alison Mitchell, Chelsea Crighton, Heather Young and Lauren Kolher are joining the East Lothian players Becky and Minnie Knight to play in the National League. So far the girls have had convincing wins over Arbroath Muskateers, Dundee Sharks and Wildcats. However they have been beaten by the other four teams in the league. The league has now been split into two and the Perigrines are in the Silver cup which they will definetly be looking to win. Good luck girls!

Congradulations to Sunshine's first Scotland Cadette Player! Alison Mitchell has been called up for the 15 strong squad that are heading to Barcelona at the end of the season. Alison, and fellow Sunshiner Heather Young, played for the under 14 girls Scotland Squad last season, 2004/2005 and Ali has been given the opportunity to continued her Scotland career.
