    Kickball reminders:

    1) There seems to be some confusion concerning the ratio of guys to girls and where they are playing in the field. You can play a total of 10 players on the field at one time. In a perfect world, this would be 5 guys and 5 girls. However, you can play with more girls than guys but not more guys than girls. If you are playing 10, there must be 2 guys and 2 girls in the OF and 3 girls and 3 guys in the IF. It does not matter what position you have them at and you do NOT have to alternate every other position as guy/girl. If you want to play 2 guys on one side of the IF, you can do that. If you want to have a girl pitching and a girl catching, you can do that too. As long as the requirements are met, that is all we are concerned with. You have to have a minimum of 8 players to start with (4 guys/4 girls). A question has been asked-"What do we do if we have 7 guys and 4 girls?" The answer is 8 players go out on the field (4 guys/4 girls) and the other 3 guys will still kick.

    2) There is no consumption of alcohol allowed on city property.

    3) We would like to ask that if you need to smoke, do not do this in the bleacher areas. We do not allow any smoking during our rec league baseball/softball/t-ball games because of the kids and since there seems to be a good number of kids coming to the games with their parents, we would like to continue to keep this going.

    4) With the rising temperatures have also come rising tempers. Please note that we use the same rule in this kickball league as we do in any other league that the city of Millington coordinates. That rule is: If there is a problem, the umpire will talk to the head coach and the head coach only. If the head coach is not present, a person who he or she has designated as head coach will be the person that the umpire will talk to. UMPIRES WILL NOT TALK TO ANYONE ELSE ON THE TEAM! If a player sees a problem or has a problem with something, then that player should tell their respective head coach and then the head coach can address the issue with the umpire. This league is meant for everyone to have fun and should be very laid back and not stressful at all.

    5) We will now end the regular season on July 11 and on July 18, we will have a single elimination tournament. Times and bracket to follow ASAP.

Our baseball/softball/t-ball seasons are now complete. My thanks to all of the coaches, umpires, workers for all of their hard work, dedication and sacrifice for the young men and women of this community. My thanks to the parents for their patience as we tried to play ball around the rain! I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and will join us again next year. As always, you can e-mail any comments (positive or negative) as well as any suggestions to me at markhealy@xipline.com. Please include your name and any contact information if you would like me to contact you. Please include your child's name and what team and league he or she was in. If you do not include all of this information, I will not consider anything submitted. Thanks once again.
