Welcome to the NJABL
Welcome to the online home of the North Jersey Amateur Baseball League (NJABL). The NJABL is an 18 and up all-wood bat baseball league with teams from Bergen, Passaic and Rockland (NY) Counties. The goal of the NJABL is to provide an organized and highly competitive environment for current collegiate baseball players, as well as recent graduates and former professional ballplayers. The strength and commitment of our core teams as well as the quality of the athlete competing will allow the league to grow, succeed and be the premier wood bat baseball league of North Jersey.
Our site is regularly updated. Feel free to surf our team pages and stats pages as well. Individual players interested in joining teams should fill out the league's free agent player inquiry form found on the left tool bar under online forms or else contact the team representative in the town nearest you. Once completed your info will be circulated to all league managers for review.

The Wyckoff Raiders pulled out the win in what turned out to be a nail biter. Tied at 1-1 in the bottom of the 8th, pinch hitter Jim LoRusso doubled down the LF line. After loading the bases, RF Aaron Drury's RBI walk turned out to be the deciding run. Others who contributed to the Wyckoff win were 1B P.J. Saporito, who singled in the Raiders' other run; and 3B Joe Cacchiola who went 2-3 with a 2B and SB. Cory Kuzmik pitched two innings of hit less ball to pick up the victory.

Phil Gertner pitched a complete game three hit shutout notching six Ks along the way. The Hawks jumped out early scoring two runs on Doug Meiers clutch single to leftfield in the first inning. Clifton added another run in the fourth inning when Eric Vinciguerra's two out single scored Mike Picarello

Nyack defeats Fair Lawn

Nyack's Mike Pasch threw a complete game no-hitter to lead the Indians past Fair Lawn. The no-hitter follows a no-hitter on saturday that 4 Nyack pitchers combined on. Mark Duncan had a 2 run double and Pete Recla had a 3-run double in a 7 run first inning for the Indians.

John Howe hit a game winning RBI single in the bottom of the seventh to propel the Salty Dogs past River Edge 3 - 2. Mike Kolesar went the distance for the win.

The Wyckoff Raiders defeated the Paterson Deacons Monday night, behind the strong pitching of Dave Cahoon. The veteran right-hander threw a complete game 1 hitter, striking 12. The Raiders' offense was led by Nick Benvenuto's 3-run, no doubt, homerun in the bottom of the 4th inning. Wyckoff was also assisted by Joe Cacchiola, who stroked two doubles, as well as, Mike Mordeci and Aaron Drury, who contributed key RBI hits.

Tim O'Sullivan went the distance striking out 9 and picking up his second win. Clifton came from behind in the bottom of the fifth inning scoring two runs on Doug Meier's double and escaped a bases loaded jam in the top of the seventh.

Four Nyack pitchers combined to no-hit the Wyckoff Raiders in a 4-2 victory. Andrew Wanamaker, Ken Pommerencke, Craig Leavy and Anthony Engel each took a turn on the mound and allowed only 1 earned run on the day. Ted Broderick went 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and an rbi. Scott Muscat had a rbi single in the 2nd inning which turned out to be the winning run.

Homers by Anthony Kaplon, Junior Lewis and a grand slam by Vito Marichal led the offensive attack by Englewood. Steven Arroyo-Falcon went the distance only allowing three hits on eight strikeouts to earn his fourth complete game shutout victory.

Mike Vinciguerra pitched 5 effective innings yielding only one earned run picking up his first win of the season. Justin Chimento in his first outing since coming back from arm trouble pitched two scoreless innings earning his first save. Eddie Frias had a base clearing double in the third inning and Joe DiGeronimo had a bases loaded single driving in two runs.

The Lyndhurst Rebels scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th to gain a 3-2 victory over Paramus. Evans Roache singled in Paul Bonazzi who was 2for 3 with an rbi for the game winner. Marc Somerhalter pitched 6 innings to earn the victory giving up 4 hits and 2 runs all in the 5th inning. Anthony Chiaramello earned the save. Dave Schwartz homered and Frank Franco had 2 hits for Paramus.

The Wyckoff Raiders reached double digit wins with their win against Fair Lawn Thursday night. Led by lefty pitcher Cory Kuzmik, the Raiders defeated the Cutters 6-2. Kuzmik pitched five strong innings striking out 8, while only allowing three hits. The Wyckoff offense was led by Mike Mordeci, who stroked two hits, and Joe Cacchiola who blasted a double and scored two runs.

The Wyckoff Raiders got back into winning fashion behind veteran pitcher Pat Tuthill. The righthander picked up the win for the Raiders throwing five strong innings, allowing five hits and striking out five. The Wyckoff offense was paced by Mike Mordeci and Aaron Drury, each of whom were 2 for 3. Leadoff hitter Gino Gallagher added two key RBI for the Raiders with a double in the 3rd inning.

Tim O'Sullivan pitched 6 innings, striking out 4 and yielding only 3 hits for his first NJABL win. The Hawks scored all their runs in the first inning on successive base hits by Tom Csigi, Ed Frias and Zak Rose and scoring on Tim Thompson's ground ball to second and Joe DiGeronimo's 2 RBI single. Little Ferry also scored in the first inning on Patrick Reitmeyer's RBI single.

Will Vidulich threw a complete game striking out 7 in the victory. Tim Seiden and Randy Shupe led the offense with 2 hits apiece. Orange County looks to build on tonights win as they take on Paterson Saturday morning in Sloatsburg.

Dan Lupo hit a 2 run homer in the 6th inning to lead the Elks to a 4-2 win. Starting pitcher Jason DeMarco improved to 2-0 with 4 2/3 strong innings and Anthony Cisternino pitched a perfect 7th inning for the save.
Umpires/Schedule
The New Jersey umpire schedule can be found by clicking on Umpire Schedule which is on the main menu. You should have received an email from Pete Amoruso which gave you instructions for the Arbiter web site. Once logged in you should make sure your contact information is up to date and your telephone numbers are public. You should then go to Schedules, you will see your team name and a number under the heading games. Click on the number and you will see your schedule. Click on the heading slots and you will see the umpires assigned to your game and their telephone numbers. You must notify Pete Amoruso and the attending umps if there is a cancellation. Contact Pete Amoruso if you need your login information. Review your schedule there and make sure all your NJ games are listed. If you don't see the game there you may not have umpires at your game.

NJABL Welcomes the O.C. Warriors

The NJABL is proud to announce that the Orange County Warriors have been accepted for membership for the 2009 season. The Warriors are led by Managers Mickey Clifford and Henry Marker. We wish the Warriors good luck in the upcoming season.
New League Officers Elected for 2009
New NJABL leadership was voted into office at the January league meeting. Elected to office for the next 2 years were Barry Simon (President) of the Nyack Indians and Brian Cameron (Secretary/Treasurer) of the River Edge Hawks. Trustees for the upcoming year are Joe Auteri from the Saddle Brook Rebels and Dave Santosuosso of the Clifton Hawks.
A runoff vote was held at the February meeting and Mike Zweben of the Fairlawn Cutters was elected (Vice President).
The league thanks our out going officers for their service to the league over the past 2 years. Special thanks to our outgoing President, Joe Auteri who has served the league for the past six years in the leaders chair. His dedication to making the NJABL a better place to play baseball has been a benefit to us all.

NJABL Welcomes New Team
The NJABL is pleased to announce that the Westwood Rough Riders have been accepted to the league to begin play in 2009. Manager Jon Psihoules and his squad played a partial schedule in 2008 and will now join us full time.
