Soccer Rules Clinic for Coaches
SCYA will be hosting a rules clinic for current and potential soccer coaches (even those thinking about being a coach) on 23 July from 6:30-8:30 pm on the Multi-purpose field at Tracey's Park. This clinic will be given by Garrett Tucker of Greater Experience Soccer Academy. Garrett has officiated at the recreation, high school, college and professional levels.
There is no cost to attend. This is part of SCYA's effort to increase the skill sets of the coaches in our organization. Please spread the word to all you think might be interested.
Summer Soccer Camp
SCYA will host the Greater Experience Soccer Academy Day Camp August 3-7 at Tracey's Park.

Youth Coaches Certification Clinic
Date: Thursday, August 6

Coaches are entrusted with the important responsibility of providing an enjoyable, healthful youth sports experience. Coaches are role models, and are held accountable to a code of behavior that keeps youth sports in proper perspective. To assist with this vital undertaking, the Department provides a coaches clinic. The clinic covers topics such as coaching philosophy, sports psychology, legal matters, first aid, health and much more.
All head coaches are required to attend a Coaches Certification Clinic prior to beginning their second year of coaching. A coaches certification is valid for three years, at which time the coach must be re-certified. It is recommended that assistant coaches attend also.
Open Positions
It is time for the annual appointment of Operating Board Members and Sports Commissioners. We also have an Executive Board position that is open and needs to be filled. The following positions will be available.
Director, Clinic Sports - You will oversee all the clinic programs sponsored by SCYA.
Boys Soccer Commissioner - You will oversee the county boys' soccer program.
Picture Coordinator - You will coordinate the picture dates for each sport.
Public Relations Manager - You will be responsible for fundraising and soliciting support from local businesses and sponsors.

Board Meeting
The next board meeting for SCYA has been scheduled for August 5 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at St. James Church.
