SEAFORD BOYS 11's & 12's SWEEP IN WILLIAMSPORT DOUBLEHEADER 7-6 & 7-6

The Seaford 12 Boys continued to advance forward with their backs to the wall and came up BIG once again with a come from behind 7-6 victory in an elimination game vs. NBNM. In the bottom of the sixth with two outs and a man on second base, an untimely error that could have ended the game allowed Seaford second life as Dan Colantonio came up and deposited a double down the right field corner and drove in the tying and winning run for Seaford. Trailing 6-3 in the fifth inning, Justin Cestro inched Seaford closer with a two run homer over the centerfield fence.

Dan Colantonio started on the mound and lasted into the fifth inning before giving way to gritty relief from Sean Breheny. Jake Doyle had two doubles in the game. This Seaford group showed tremendous mettle throughout the game. The Williamsport 12's are now 3-1 in the District and will tentatively play Sunday at 4PM at Burns Park in Massapequa.

Seaford 11's stayed in the winners bracket and are now 2-0 in District play with a come from behind 7-6 win against Wantagh. Seaford struck first in the first inning with two runs. Lucas Hall started on the mound and produced a scoreless first. After leaving with the bases loaded and no one out in the second, Paul Twibell came in relief allowing two runners to score. With the score tied, Seaford tacked three more on the board to go ahead 5-2. That did not last long as Wantagh forged ahead with four runs in the fourth to go ahead 6-5. In the fifth, Keith McHugh tripled over the third base bag. He was driven in by Nick Jordan's single (his second hit of the game). After Jordan reached second on a wild pitch, Danny Connell drove in the go ahead run for a 7-6 lead with a single.

Twibell gave up a leadoff double in the bottom of the sixth before giving way to Keith McHugh in relief. After Wantagh's potential tying run reached third on a tag up play, Keith McHugh's stab of a grounder up the middle saved the game as he threw home to Nick Jordan at the plate who promptly fired to third to pick off the runner. With another runner now on second, McHugh induced a line drive to centerfielder Steven Torre to end the game............another nailbiter. Seaford 11's now face Merrick Sunday at 2:30PM at Burns Park in the winners bracket.

The Seaford 9U's continued their summer season with a tough loss to Oceanside 6-2. They stayed close into the fifth inning only down 3-2 before Oceanside broke the game open. Dominic Beltrano pitched three innings allowing only two earned runs. Eddie Duncklee pitched a scoreless fifth inning.

Call it a miracle, call it destiny, the Seaford 11U Williamsport squad stormed back from a 10-4 deficit in the bottom of the sixth inning to take an improbable 11-10 victory in their opener against Massapequa Coast. Down 3-0 in the first inning, Seaford crawled back in the bottom of the third to take a 4-3 lead. Mike Scully gutted into the fourth inning with a lead before shoddy Seaford defense and a few hits let Massapequa score six runs and Seaford trailed 10-4. Paul Twibell and Keith McHugh did their best on the mound to keep the damage limited until the bottom of the sixth........last licks with Seaford trailing by six runs. Lucas Hall started the inning with a single. Nick Jordan, John Quigley, Mike Perez, Danny Connell, Mike Scully, Kyle O'Donnell, and Steven Torre all contributed with consecutive hits and RBI's started piling up. With one out and Seaford within a run at 10-9, Lucas Hall came up with Kyle O'Donnell the tying run on third and Steven Torre the winning run anchored on second base. Facing two strikes, Lucas Hall, in his second time at bat in the inning, hit the right field wall with a two run walk off double to propel Seaford to a Williamsport opening 11-10 stirring victory. They now face Wantagh Wednesday night at Burns Field in Massapequa at 5:30PM.

Seaford Williamsort 12's bounced back Friday night with a heroic effort and defeated Merrick 13-8 in an elimination game. In a see-saw battle,  Merrick took an early 3-0 lead. Seaford came back to go ahead 8-3, only to see Merrick come back to tie 8-8. Seaford exploded for 5 runs in the top of the sixth to put the game away. Timely hitting and excellent fielding in the key moments led to the win. The combined effort on the mound from Jimmy O'Hagan and the outstanding relief from Anthony Gallo sealed the win. Seaford will now face North Bellmore-North Merrick Wednesday night at 8:15PM at John Burns Park in Massapequa.

Our Williamsport 12U's lost their first game in the tournament. They came up short against Massapequa International. They now look to rebound Friday night at Burns Park at 8:15PM.

The Travel 9U "A" team made their travel debut for the first time ever together. They were very impressive in a 5-4 losing effort against Oceanside in their LSW League. Nick Jaskolski, Zach Groff and Luke Farrant shared the mound duties and performed very well. Matt Corominas was the hitting standout with a long 2 run double.

After dropping their opener to North Bellmore, the 12yr old Girls rebounded with a 12-0 win against Wantagh..Brittney led the way with 3 hits and pitched a 4inning shortened game shutout..Ashley had 3 hits for Seaford and Vicky, Shannon, Kerry, Alyssa, and Anna all had 2 hits...Next up for the girls is a game against a very tough Merrick team on Sunday July 5 at 10am at Saw Mill Park in North Bellmore

The 12 yr old Girls were eliminated from Williamsport after dropping a tough 8-5 game to Merrick..It was a tough back and forth game but Seaford was not able to overcome...The girls played a tough 3 games and now look forward to the East Meadow and Floral Park tournaments throughout the summer..

Our 12U Williamsport team rolled to a 6-1 convincing win against Wantagh. Dave Jaskolski threw four scoreless frames and Anthony Gallo finished up on the mound. Jimmy O'Hagan got Seaford on the board early with a massive 250 foot plus homer over the left field fence. Seaford never looked back with aggressive baserunning after that to produce four additional runs. They now face Massapequa International this Thursday July 2 at 5:30PM at Burns Park in Massapequa.

Our 10 year old Williamsport squad had a great weekend in their LSW League. A no hit pitching combo of Andrew Cain and Paul Scicutella blanked Long Beach on Saturday and a combined three hitter from Chris Alfano and Michael Tito led the team to an 8-2 victory vs. Oceanside.

Our 11 "A" Williamsport team warmed up against East Meadow "A" with a tidy 3-2 victory. Combined solid pitching from Michael Scully, Paul Twibell and Lucas Hall and a 2-3 3RBI day from Danny Connell provided all the scoring. Great defense from Nick Jordan, Mike Perez, Kyle O'Donnell and Pat Quigley assisted the effort.
