Welcome to Germantown Football
The Germantown Football Association (SGFA) is a non-profit 501(C)3 organization that serves the youth in Germantown and surrounding areas ranging in ages from 6 to 15 years old. The purpose of our organization is to introduce participants to the fundamentals of football, as well as, assist in the development of discipline, dedication, team work and good sportsmanship, all within a safe and enjoyable atmosphere.
GFA's football program was established in 1999 and has quickly
become one of the largest and most successful programs in Montgomery County. Over the past 5 years, our association has been an athletic outlet to over 1,400 area boys and girls. We currently have several former players participating on the high school level. Our football program participates in the Montgomery County Capital Beltway League along with approximately 11 other individual associations, fielding teams from the 65lb to the Unlimited division. In 2006, we fielded 14 travel teams, including 3-65lb teams, 3-75lb and 2-85lb, allowing us to properly place our younger, less experienced players at the most appropriate level. We also continued our "In-House" program for players ages 6-7. We again had 4 teams at this level during the 2006 season. Lastly, we completed the 2006 season as the #2 ranked program in the Capital Beltway League.
Our program is open to anyone in Montgomery County. Teams are structured by a combination of age, weight and experience. Our home field is located at the Ridge Road Sports Complex off Rt. 355 and Father Hurley Blvd (near the Milestone Community). Practices are also held in Germantown. The season consists of 3-4 exhibition games and at least 9 league games followed by the playoffs. For more information on our program please contact our hotline at 301-428-0728 or email us at Southgtown@verizon.net.
Contributions Sought for Funding the 2008 Fall Season
We provide our players with the safest and most modern equipment available. In addition, our game uniforms allow our players to look and feel proud when they wear the “Blue and Orange.” It requires a sizable investment each year to operate our organization at the level we have become accustomed to. Our organization must pay for the use of athletic fields, referees, field maintenance and administrative fees. As a result, it is imperative that we solicit donations from Corporations, small businesses, and individual donors who believe in the value of youth team sports. Please note that your donations are tax deductible. For more information on how to become a sponsor for the 2008 football season, please contact the hotline at 301-428-0728 or e-mail us at Southgtown@verizon.net
