No new Webmaster for Basher Central was ever found for 2008, but I am back for 2009. My sincerest apologies to all of you die hard Basher fans out there. Time constraints, work, and family just made it too hard to dedicate any amount of time to the Basher website. Fortunately, I find myself in a better situation in 2009. Older information below, for those of you who have not been here lately, which is most of you.
Welcome to our new wave of umpires this year: congrats on successfully completing your Level 1 Umpiring, and more importantly, congrats on make SAMBA stronger. We truly are the envy of other small town Associations. We really are. (comments are mine, not anyone else's :) )
Pictures from my Basher Library, new and old, are now filtering to the Facebook fan site. Any parents who want me to send them the pics I have of their children (i dont have everyone, but I do take a lot of pics) send me your email

A big huge Basher Forearm Bash for all new players who have joined Basher Nation this year. With current enrollment over 100 players, and the anticipation of the the last two teams to fully come online over the next week, we are pushing 140 Bashers coming online this year. SAMBA grows stronger and stronger every year!
Coaching and Team Updates sees Roddy Conrad taking on the coaching responsibility of the Peewee House Team and the Midget A Squad, the first time a Midget A team has been fielded out of SAMBA since winning the last Association banner back at the start of the millenium. With core members of the silver medal winning Bantam team of 2008, and some additional players from around the Tri County area, (our Tri County area, not the city one), the team looks poised to make a run at a Baseball Nova Scotia Championship this year.
Tommy and Leon are back, coaching the Bantam squad, who despite missing 3 rostered players (Shelburne County AA with Andrew Holland, team consisting of players from Lockeport, Shelburne, Woods Harbour and Clark's Harbour, next tournament the first weekend in July @ Berwick), the team looks ready to enjoy a successful season: as the long as the rain stops...I think i saw Leon canoeing to work the other day!!!!!!
Once again, we have two rookie teams again this year, with a good chunk of last year's team moving up to Mosquito, which is where we find Bill Slack, Darren Jacklyn and the rest of the coaches applying their craft this year with two teams in this division as well.
Squirt Girls are led once again by M. Haliburton and A. Firth, and in the action I have seen, they look great. Look for the Bantam Girls Softball team to come online within the next week. Practice on Tuesday for this age set.
Once again, the newly elected Executive looks pretty much the same as last year: what am I saying, it looks exactly the same as last year.
RODDY CONRAD (President)
LEON HEMEON (Vice President)
PAUL RICHARDSON (Treasurer)
JANET BRADLEY (Secretary)
A big huge round of applause, a standing ovation if you will, for the SAMBA Board, Version 2009...Woot Woot!!!! Everyone else, make sure you offer to help out around the diamond, carry a base, work the canteen, pick up the litter etc. I know the Town owns and runs it, but for all intent and purposes, that is SAMBA's home: We are lucky to have such a wonderful facility as the Complex.
