'Smiths announce remaining home dates
July 8, 2009
The Silversmiths have 5 more home dates at Noyes Park for the 2009 season.

Five Silversmiths earn ECBL All-Star Honors
July 4, 2009
Shortstop Josh Fyffe (PSU-Behrend), Third baseman Derek Stupski (Long Island University), Outfielder Pat O'Brien (Mohawk Valley CC), and Pitchers Austin Straub (Onondaga CC) and Dennis Duffy (American International College) earned 2009 ECBL All-Star Honors.
Fyffe is leading all Sherrill players with a .370 Avg, 5 2Bs, 2 3Bs, 1 HR, 8 RBI, and is slugging .593.
Stupski is hitting .333, with 3 2Bs, and 6 RBI.
O'Brien is hitting .316, with 2 2Bs, 8 runs scored, and 6 SB.
Straub leads the Sherrill pitching staff with a 1-0 record, 1.42 ERA in 19 INN, and 11 Ks.
Duffy has a 1-2 record with a 5.25 ERA and a team leading 24 INN.
Silversmiths add another week of camp
July 2, 2009
The Silversmiths have added 3 more days of baseball camp for July 6, 7, 8.
The camp will run from 9AM to 1PM at Thurber Field in Sherrill each day and is open to all Little Leaguers, coach pitch and tee-ballers. The cost is $20 a day or $50 for all three days.
Schedule Changes
June 30, 2009
The July 18th double header against the Saratoga Stampede has been moved to Noyes Park in Sherrill. First pitch is scheduled for 1PM.
The Silversmiths are on the road for the next two weeks and the next home game at Noyes Park will be July 16 against the Utica Brewers. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 PM.
Sherrill bats come alive in 12-1 victory
June 29, 2009
The Silversmiths bats awoke for a 12 run outburts as Sherrill defeated the CNY Angels on Monday night 12-1.
Eight of the nine Sherrill starters chipped in with at least one hit and Eric Secor(Mansfield University), Derek Stupski(Long Island University), Mike Sherlock(SUNY-Paltz), and Markus Delello(RPI) each tallied multi hit games in the 14 hit attack.
Mike Sherlock led all 'Smith player on the night going 3 for 3 with a double, triple, 3 runs scored, and an RBI.
Dennis Duffy finished the offensive outburts with a pinch hit grand slam in the 5th as the 10 run rule was enforced.
Brett Olbrys(Potomac State), Aubrey Wood(Finger Lakes CC), and Mike Nich(Endicott College) combined to limit CNY to just a lone run on 3 hits.
The 'Smiths are back in action on Tuesday Night at Noyes Park in Sherrill at 5:30 PM against the Utica Brewers.
'Smiths split with Eagles
June 28, 2009
The Silversmiths split a twin bill against the Vermont Eagles on Sunday at Noyes Park. The Eagles won game 1 by a score of 4-3 and Sherrill was victorious in game 2 by a score of 3-1.
Dennis Duffy (American International) and Marc Plante (Kent School) combined to limit the Eagle attack 4 runs and 6 hits in the loss.
Josh Fyffe (PSU Behrend) had an RBI double in the loss. Markus Delello (Rensselaer Polytechnic) and Mike Sherlock (SUNY New Paltz) each had an RBI.
In game 2 Austin Straub (Onondaga CC) threw a complete game allowing just 1 unearned run on 5 hits while striking out 2.
Ryan Geibel (PSU Behrend) led the Sherrill attack with an RBI Double. Sam Politan (Montclair State) chipped in with an RBI single in the victory.
Sherrill is back in action Monday night at 6 PM at Noyes Park vs the CNY Angels.
Four Run First Paces Silversmiths Victory
June 27, 2009
The Silversmith bats came alive for a 4 run first inning at Noyes Park on Friday evening against the CNY Angels as Sherrill never trailed in a 8-5 victory.
Starting pitcher Chris Pallas (Utica College) threw a solid 4 innings allowing 1 run on 2 hits to go along with 2 walks and 2 strike outs to pick up the victory.
Shortstop Josh Fyffe (PSU Behrend) had a big game for the 'Smiths going 3 for 4 with a double, a homerun, 2 runs scored and 3 rbi. Right fielder Pat O'Brien (Mohawk Valley CC) went 2 for 3 with a double and an rbi.
The win improves the Silversmiths record to 3-9-1.
The Silversmiths will continue a 5 game home stand Sunday at Noyes Park against the Vermont Eagles. The double header will begin at 1 PM. The Silversmiths are also at home on Monday against the CNY Angels at 6 PM and are home on Tuesday against the Utica Brewers at 5:30 PM.
'Smiths weekend updates
June 21, 2009
On Saturday the Silversmiths snapped a 6 game losing streak by taking game 1 against the Utica Brewers 5 to 3.
Tim Bailey (American International) led Sherrill by tossing a complete game allowing just 3 runs, striking out 7 and walking 1.
Sherrill was down 3-0 heading into the top of the sixth when Eric Secor (Mansfield University) and Taylor Bargiacchi (Dowling College) connected on back to back home runs as Sherrill posted 5 runs in the 6th to take the lead.
Game 2 ended in a 1-1 tie after 8 innings of play due to rain. Austin Straub (Onondaga CC) and Joe Pallone (Cazenovia College) combined to allow a lone run in the tie.
Trailing 1-0 heading into the bottom of the 7th Dennis Duffy (American International) drew a lead off walk. After a sacrifice by Paul Conte (Clarkson University) and a ground out by Eric Secor, Taylor Bargiacchi lined a single to left field to plate the tying run.
Sundays games were postponed due to poor field conditions and will be made up at a later date.
The Silversmiths are on the road both Monday and Tuesday and are home again on Friday against the CNY Angels at 6 PM at Noyes Park in Sherrill
Schedule Changes Made
June 18, 2009
Here are the latest schedule changes for the Silversmiths.
Sunday, June 21, will now be a home double header starting at 11 AM at Noyes Park. Game 1 will be against the CNY Angels and Game 2 will be against the Oriskany Blazers.
Tuesday, July 7, will now be a road game at Oriskany High School against the Oriskany Blazers starting at 5:30 PM.

'Smiths drop two tight games to Rome
June 15, 2009
Sherrill dropped two games by scores of 3-1 and 8-6 to the Rome Thunderbolts on Sunday at Noyes Park.
Chris Pallas (Utica College) took the loss for the Silversmiths in game one. Pallas tossed 3.2 innings allowing all three Rome runs. The 'Smith bullpen of Corey Andresen (Oneonta State), Aubrey Wood (Finger Lakes CC), and Joe Pallone (Cazenovia College) combined for 3.1 innings of scoreless relief.
The Silversmiths had base hits by catcher Ryan Geibel (PSU-Behrend), outfielder Paul Conte (Mohawk Valley CC), shortstop Josh Fyffe (PSU-Behrend), and thirdbaseman Derek Stupski (Long Island University).
In game 2, a late Silversmith rally fell just short. The 'Smiths worked to get the go a head run at the plate in the bottom of the 7th but could not break through.
Starting pitcher Brett Olbrys struggled in his first start of the season while taking the loss. Reliever Austin Straub (Onondaga CC) pitched a strong 3 innings of relief allowing just 2 runs while striking out 2.
Eric Secor (Mansfield University) led the 'Smiths offensively with a 3 for 4 game, along with 2 stolen bases, a double, and 2 runs scored. Pat O'Brien (Mohawk Valley CC) also scored 2 runs, along with 2 stolen bases, and an RBI while registering a base hit.
The Silversmiths will be on the road to play the Geneva Red Wings on Tuesday and the Albany Athletics on Wednesday. Our next home game will be a double header on Saturday, June 20 at 1 PM vs the Vermont Eagles.
Little League Night Gets Home Schedule Started with a Bang

Approximately 40 little leaguers from the Sherrill Little League were present for the Silversmiths home opener at Noyes Park on Wednesday. Sherrill Little League President Barry VanDreasen helped organize the event that was a smash hit with the community.
In a tight game the Silversmiths fell 5 to 4 to the Oriskany Blazers. The 'Smiths led 4-1 heading into the final frame but the Blazers mounted a last inning rally to a take a 5-4 lead.
'Smiths starting pitcher Tim Bailey (American International) threw a solid 4 innings allowing just 1 run on 4 hits along with 3 strike outs.
Shortstop Josh Fyffe (PSU Behrend) led Sherrill at the plate with a 2 for 3 day with a double, triple. RBI and a run scored. Second baseman Eric Secor (Binghamton University) went 2 for 3 with a double, RBI, run scored and a stolen base.
Sherrill's next home game is Sunday June 14 vs Rome at 2 PM at Noyes Park.
Sherrill Earns First Franchise Victory

The Silversmiths earned their first victory in franchise history by winning the first game of a double dip by a score of 5-3 versus the Utica Brewers on Sunday.
Pitcher Dennis Duffy (American International University) earned the victory by tossing a solid 5 innings allowing just 2 runs on 3 hits, while striking out three. Joe Pallone (Cazenovia College) came on to close out the game and earn his first save.
Infielder Josh Fyffe (PSU-Behrend) and Outfielder Paul Conte (Mohawk Valley CC) led the Silversmiths at the plate. Fyffe went 2 for 4 with a double, triple, a run scored and an RBI. Conte went 2 for 3 with a double, a run scored, 1 RBI and a walk. Catcher Taylor Bargiacchi (Dowling College) chipped in with an RBI and Outfielder Ryan Dungey (Mohawk Valley CC) scored 2 runs and drove in 1.
Utica took game 2 by a score of 13-1. Five Sherrill errors led to 10 unearned runs in a sloppy game. Chris Pallas (Utica College) took the loss for Sherrill tossing 2.2 innings allowing 6 runs and 1 earned run.
Infielder Sam Politan (Montclair State University) had a single and scored a run and Outfielder Mike Sherlock (SUNY-New Paltz) knocked a double and drove in the lone Sherrill in the loss.
Registration Now Open For Silversmiths Baseball Camp

Registration is now open for the first annual Silversmith Baseball Camp.
Camp is open to all Little Leaguers, both major and minor league, coach pitch, youth softball, and tee ballers.
The camp will run June 29-July 2 from 9AM-1PM. The cost is $20 per day or $65 for all four days. Payments will be received on the first day of camp in which a camper participates.
Thurber Field in Sherrill will be where the camp will be conducted.
The Silversmith Coaching Staff and Players will provide high quality instruction focusing on hitting, defense, pitching, baserunning, and game situations.
Registration may be done at the first day of camp in which a camper arrives or by pre-registration. Pre-registration can be done by using the "camps" link to the left of our website and printing the registration form off and sending the completed form to:

Silversmiths Drop Opener
June 7, 2009
The Sherrill Silversmiths dropped their season opener 14-2 versus the Rome Thunderbolts at Delutis Field on Saturday night.
Sherrill started strong scoring a run in both the first and second innings on RBI singles by Derek Stupski(Long Island University) and Ryan Dungey(Mohawk Valley CC). The Silversmiths managed 4 hits through the first three innings but we limited after the 3rd.
Starting Pitcher Cory Andresen(Oneonta State) threw a solid 5 2/3 innings for the Silversmiths allowing 3 earned runs on 5 hits while taking the loss.
Sherrill will be back in action on Sunday against the Utica Brewers at Donovan Stadium at 5:00 and will open at home on Wednesday versus the Oriskany Blazers at Noyes Park at 6:15.
Silversmiths Announce Little League Night and Camp Dates

The Sherrill Silversmiths will be holding Little League Night during their Home Opener on Wednesday, June 10 vs the Oriskany Blazers, first pitch is scheduled for 6:15 PM at Noyes Field.
All Little Leaguers, both Major and Minor, Coach Pitch, and Tee-Ball Players are encouraged to arrive at 5:30 PM, at Noyes Field, in uniform to be introduced with their favorite Silversmith players and take the field during pregame introductions.
The First Annual Silversmiths Slugger Camp will run from June 29 to July 2 and will run from 9 AM to 1 PM. It is open to all Little Leaguers, both Major and Minor, Coach Pitch, and Tee-Ball Players. The cost will be $65 for all four days or $20 a day for individual days. More information will be available soon.
Eric Secor Going to NCAA Div I Baseball Regionals

Eric Secor (freshman middle infielder for Binghamton University) will be traveling to the first round of the NCAA Division I World Series Regionals with the Binghamton University baseball team, as they clinched the America East Conference championship early this morning (5/24). The NCAA site and opponent will be announced Monday (5/25) at 12:30pm on ESPN.
Post Season Championships and Awards Roll in for Silversmith Players

A number of post season championships and awards have came in for members of the 2009 Silversmiths roster.
Taylor Bargiacchi a freshman catcher at Dowling College has helped his team to an appearance at the Division II World Series at the USA Baseball Training Complex in Cary, NC.
Infielder Josh Fyffe and Catcher Ryan Geibel helped lead PSU-Behrend to an AMCC Conference Championship and an appearance at the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional. Fyfe was also awarded the AMCC Player of the Year Award after having a monster season.
Mohawk Valley CC members Ryan Dungey, Pat O'Brien, DJ Pastuf, and Paul Conte helped lead the Hawks to a NJCAA Division III Region III Final Four Appearance.
Eric Secor, a freshman infielder at Binghamton University, helped the Bearcats to a regular season America East Conference Championship.
Joe Pallone, a junior pitcher at Cazenovia College, helped his Wildcats to a second consecutive NEAC Regular Season Championship and the school's first ECAC Tournament appearance.
Aubrey Wood, a freshman pitcher at Alvernia University, helped his team to a NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional Appearance.
Brett Olbrys, a freshman pitcher at Potomac State College, helped his team come within one game of the NJCAA Division I World Series.
Sam Politan, a freshman infielder at Montclair State, helped his team to a NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional Appearance.
Markus Delello, a freshman outfielder at RPI, helped his team to a NCAA Division III New York Regional Appearance.
Silversmiths Looking for Volunteers/Host Families

The Sherrill Silversmiths are looking for volunteers and host families for the 2009 season.
Anyone interested in volunteering to help the Silversmiths in anyway, from working the concession stand, to helping promote the team, to acting as Public Address Announcer at Silversmith games your help is needed.
Anyone interested in hosting a college baseball player for the summer your help is needed as well. Being a host family can be a rewarding experience, where you can build life long bonds between the families and players.
