The Team New York Cardinals (formerly the Long Island Royal Cardinals) are one of the premier non-profit amateur baseball organizations in the northeastern United States. We pride ourselves on player development - academically, socially and physically.
Our managers and coaches stress fundamentals, implement professional level coaching attitudes, strategies and exercises to allow players to maximize their full potential, and train to remain mechanically solid, physically strong and injury free.
We offer top-level coaching, maximum exposure to the college and scouting communities, and the opportunity to play in the most highly competitive leagues in the tri-state area. As an organization that believes in maximum exposure, our teams participate in tournaments in both the United States and Canada.

REIGSTRATION OPEN FOR WINTER WORKOUTS
November 17, 2008
The Team NY Cardinals are happy to open up registration for our annual Winter Workouts. Headed up by Cardinal VP and strength and conditioning guru Charlie Foster, with support from the Cardinals staff, this year's workouts promise to be the best yet.
The Winter Workouts are designed to prepare the student-athlete for the upcoming 2009 season. The workouts are designed to provide expert instruction to players of varying abilities. Small group instruction will guarantee maximum attention from our staff, all of whom have professional and college level experience.
In addition, the Cardinals will be hosting a series of workshops (held in between the AM and PM sessions), designed to better prepare you for the road to becoming a college athlete.
The workouts, held at Cardozo High School, will take place on 5 consecutive Sundays, beginning on January 11th. The morning session (9:30-11-30) will be held for pitchers and catchers, while the offense/defense portion will be held in the afternoons (12:00-2:00).
Space is extremely limited, and will be filled on a first-come, first serve basis.

15u FINISHES SECOND AT USABF WORLD SERIES
Roger Mischel's 15u Team NY Cardinals' squad headed out to San Diego for the USABF World Series with one thing on their minds - back-to-back titles. The 2007 version of Mischel's baby birds made a good season great last year, getting hot at the right time and surprising the west coast contingency by taking the title last season. After going undefeated in pool play this year, a repeat seemed to be on the horizon. Sadly, the Cards finished as runners up, falling in the championship game to the Snohomish County (Washington) Express 10-1.
The Cardinals opened up pool play impressive fashion, crushing the San Diego Saints by a score of 21-2. Offense would be the story for the Cards throughout the opening games, as they compiled double digit run totals in 4 of the 5 pool play games. Interestingly enough, the only pitchers duel would be against the Express, a 3-2 win, thanks to some impressive pitching by Andrew Wood, and a save from ace Benjamin Chu. Mischel noted, "After that game, I knew that if we were going to win it all, we would have to go through them (the Express) again."
The opening round of the playoffs saw the Cardinals faced off against the Saints again, and a similar result - a 16-0 victory. "My boys really turned it on there. After this game, we really could almost taste the title." Perhaps suffering from overconfidence, the Redbirds faced off against the San Diego Baseballers in the semis. The birds came out flat, falling behind 6-1 into the 4th. "I brought the kids together explained that we did not come across the country to fall short by one game." As they have all season, the team responded with a 10 run inning, fnishing off the Baseballers 13-6, setting the stage for a rematch with the Express.
Cardinal president Rich Kashdan was on hand for the title game, and said, "The Express got all the breaks. The balls they hit were just out of our boys' hands. They went down early, and, even though they fought hard, it just wasn't enough." The loss in the championship game was their only blemish on this trip to the west coast.
Overall, the Cardinals scored 96 runs against some of the best teams on the west coast. While Mischel said the entire tournament was a team effort, they were undoubtedly led by Alex Pangourelias (.529 BA), Lou Mastallone (.524 BA) and Frank Gaudi (.500 BA). Mischel also improved his record at the USABF World Series to an impressive 15-2.
