Sluggers take one from the Jackets
The Sluggers played the Yellow Jackets from Fairplay and walked away with the victory. The boys did a great job both on the field, in the batter's box and on the mound. Seeing action on the hill were Sanders, McGraw, Butler and Smith. The pitching staff did an outstanding job. The bats were hot for the Sluggers and the highlight of the night was a Grand Slam Home Run that Kachev hit emptying the dugout to greet him at home plate!!!! The Sluggers had a good night!!
Sluggers smack down the Force
The Sluggers took out their frustration from their lose to the Yankees when they traveled to Bill Arp Park to take on the Force. The Sluggers were hot at the plate and the Force just couldn't stop the Slugger Machine. The Sluggers posted 17 hits on the day. Ellison, Black and Echols all had good showings on the hill. The Sluggers lived up to their name posting the win 27-4 Great job Boys!!!!!
Sluggers have off night on the field
The Sluggers traveled to Winston Park to only have a poor showing for their efforts. The Sluggers struggled on the mound as well as at the plate, posting only two hits on the night. Needless to say when your pitching is off and your bats are cold the scoreboard isn't going to paint a pretty picture. Sluggers lose 12-3
Sluggers take down the Hornets
On a cool Tuesday evening the Sluggers battled the Hornets from Bill Arp Park. Not only was the weather cool so were the bats on both sides, the game only saw 3 hits on the night. The game came down to pitching and which team made the fewest mistakes. Miller had a good outing on the mound for the Sluggers putting in 3 innings of work and posting 5 strikeouts on the night. Aylsworth took the hill in the 4th inning and closed out the game posting 4 strikeouts of his own. The only hit of the night for the Sluggers came from Echols with a slide into 2nd base double. But in the end the Slugger's pitching was more then the Hornets could handle. Sluggers win 7-4
Sluggers battle back in the final inning
The Sluggers found themselves down 8-3 going into the final inning on a cool Thursday night game. D.J. Ellison took the mound for the top of the 6th inning and provided the Sluggers with solid pitching posting 3 strikeouts in five batters giving the Sluggers a batter's chance in the bottom of the 6th inning. In the bottom of the 6th Echols reached on a H.B.P. followed by a clutch single from Smith. Aylsworth reached on a walk. Bomar then hit a single and earned a R.B.I. Butler then came up with a single advancing the runners on base. Ellison reached base on a walk. Kachev then reached on a fielder's choice and was credited with a R.B.I. Black then came to the plate and exercised great patience and drew the walk. With bases loaded and only one out Miller took his turn at the plate. Miller hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield allowing the winning run to score. The Sluggers racked up 6 runs in the final inning to come back and win the game 9-8. Good job Sluggers
Sluggers hand the Warriors a defeat
The Sluggers gave a little payback to the Warriors for Saturday's game. The Sluggers had a good showing Sunday when they played the Warriors posting a win with an 8-2 victory. Posting hits on the game were Miller (single) Echols (single) Aylsworth (single/RBI) Bomar ( 2 singles) Butler (single/RBI) Kachev (single) and Black (single). The story of the day however was great defense and pitching from the Sluggers. Aylsworth pitched a complete game and was rewarded the win!! Sluggers post the win 8-2
Bremen takes the Sluggers
The Demons from Bremen paid a visit to Fairplay and even though the Sluggers out hit the Demons they didn't our score them. The Sluggers struggled on the hill going through 4 pitchers for the game. The Sluggers tried to mount a come back in the final inning but came up short. Sluggers lose 12-8
Sluggers drop one to the Warriors
The old saying, " Hit'em where there not," didn't apply to the Sluggers when they played the Warriors this Saturday. The Sluggers put the bat on the ball but the hits didn't reach the gaps. Some big shots were posted but the Warriors were in good position to catch either the pop flys or line drives. Posting hits were Miller starting off the game with a huge stand-up double. Bomar came up big with a monster smash triple, and Echols kept the rally alive in the 6th inning with a much needed single. Kachev had a great day on the hill with a strong 4 inning showing and posting 7 strikeouts. Smith had a huge play from behind the dish catching a Warrior sleeping on 3rd and created a rundown with Smith applying the tag for the out. Overall the game was better then the scoreboard indicated. But thats baseball for you, better luck next time Sluggers.
Sluggers start the season with back to back wins!!
The Sluggers start the season with back to back wins at Fairplay Park. The first game paired the Sluggers and the Warriors. The Sluggers started slow and dug themselves a hole and were down 4-0 . However in the 3rd the Sluggers battled back and tied the game. In the bottom of the 4th with Aylsworth on 2nd base and Sanders at the plate a hit and run was called, Sanders did his job and placed a hit on the right side of the field hitting into a 4-3, Aylsworth took 3rd then rounded his way to homeplate with the winning run!! Kachev pitched a complete game and was rewarded the win. Posting hits were....Miller (2) singles, Smith, single, Aylsworth, single, Echols, single, McGraw (2) singles, Sanders (2) RBI's.....Sluggers win 5-4
The Sluggers faced the Georgia Titians in the 2nd game. The Sluggers found themselves with even a bigger hole after 1 inning and were down 7 -0. The Sluggers turned to a new pitcher in the 2nd inning and Miller took the mound. Miller worked his way out of the 2nd inning then completely shut down the Titians for the next 4 innings. The bats came alive in the 3rd for the Sluggers and they posted 10 runs. Posting hits were..... Miller (2) singles, Aylsworth, single, RBI, Sanders, RBI, Echols, single, Butler, single, Ellison, double, RBI, McGraw, RBI. Smith, RBI Sluggers pulled it out and win 10-7.
Over all it was a good start to our season. The boys battled and came up on top this time. Great job boys!!!!
