The Rampage have locked up the West Rutland Recreation Field for practice for the 2009 season. The Field is located on Fairview Ave which is off Clarendon Ave in West Rutland.
We are still looking for players for the 2009 season, many positions still available, please contact Coach Helm at 802.779.4430 The Vermont Rampage are pleased to announce Jake Helm of Fair Haven, VT as the Head Coach for the 2009 season. Jake is 29 years old, has over 5 years experience coaching football at Fair Haven High and played for Fair Haven from 1995-1998. In 2002 Jake started Jake Helm Roofing & Masonry and then bought Doran Roofing in 2006, while maintaining two successful business's Jake has gained leadership in the business world that will help him on the Football Field. Jake's father is Bob Helm of Fair Haven who has been a State Representative for over 19 years.
Si Loomis of Fair Haven, VT will be Jake's Assistant Coach and handling the defensive side of the football. Si has recently retired from the National Guard, after almost 40 years of service. He retired as a Sergeant Major E-9. He has served as an Operations Sergeant Major, Intelligence Sergeant Major, and as a Reconnaissance Cavalry Scout Sergeant. He served as a Heavy Armor Platoon Sergent, and a United States Naval Seabee, during the Viet Nam era. Si has also served in the Law Enforcement field for over 38 years. He played high school football at Fair Haven and played on the 1968 Shrine Team. He had a scholarship to play at the University of Missouri, but passed it up to serve in the military. He first started coaching in 1969 for the United States Armed Forces. Then in 1970 he coached football at West Rutland High School, while still serving on active duty. Coach Loomis also coached at Fair Haven from 1988 to 2003, and coached the Shrine Team two times. He's basically been coaching since before the invention of the forward pass.
Brian Coombs from Rutland, VT will coach offensive and defensive line as well as special teams. He played high school football at MSJ and played on the 1975 Shrine Team. Brian played college football at Norwich. He started coaching at MSJ in 1979, then in 1982 he took a job as an assistant at Faor Haven, finally becoming head coach in 1992 until 1996. He then went back to MSJ and coached from 1997 to 2007. Coach Coombs coached the Shrine team five times throughout his 29 years of coaching.
Roy Thomas of Rutland, VT will be head of game day operations and is the marketing Director for the Rampage. Roy has been with the team since the start and has been a great asset. One of the major tasks on Roy's agenda is getting the Rampage a home field right here in Rutland.
The 2009 Season is going to be a great year not only for the Rampage but for our community. We have been awarded the right's to have all games and practices in Rutland, VT which has been a long battle that we are very proud of winning.
