WOODLAWN WILDCATS WEEKEND SKILLS CAMP
Woodlawn Minor Ball is excited to offer a three day skills session from July 24 - 26. We will be offering this skills camp to Rookies, Mosquitos, Pee Wees and Bantams. There will be a two hour session on Friday night, two hour session Saturday morning, a one hour break where a free barbecue will be held for the kids, and then back on the field for one and one half hours. On Sunday, we will be having a two hour session in the morning, for a total of seven and a half hours of instruction. We will be covering every aspect of baseball from pitching to hitting and everything in between. We will be accepting the first 20 Rookie players to register; 20 from mosquito and 20 from Pee Wee and Bantam combined. The instructors for the camp will be Bob Gillis, former Canada Games Head Coach and current coach of the Moosehead Dry; Kenny Lenihan, Nova Scotia Youth Selects Head Coach; Steve Nelson, former seventh round draft pick of the Los Angeles Dodgers currently pitching for the Moosehead Dry; Chris Head, former US college Tier 1 all-star and current player with the Moosehead Dry; Andy Taggart and a special guest appearance by none other than the coach potatoe!
The cost for the weekend is $60.00 per child. I expect this will fill up rather quickly, so if you have an interest, register early. This is offered only to Woodlawn until the 15th of July, afterwhich it will be opened up to any players in HRM.
You can register by e-mailing me at akgore@eastlink.ca.
Now that school is almost out, it is time to start getting serious about baseball! For those eager ball players, Woodlawn Minor Ball will be offering morning skills sessions. Monday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon will be Rookie Day; and Tuesday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon will be Mosquito Day. This is how it works:
You show up at the field at 10:00. There will be instructors there to take the players through the skills and usually a fun game at the end of the morning. The cost is $3.00, which goes directly to pay for the instructors. The sessions will start on July 6. Bring your water and glove, and we'll see you there!
