MARYLAND STATE CHAMPS 2012!!!

The Arena Starz concluded their season in stellar fashion by placing 2nd in the Triple Crown Summer National World Series in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The tournament was constructed as two double elimination tournaments back-to-back. The STARZ won the first tournament, winning their pool and guaranteeing a place in the Sweet 16. After playing 10 games in 5 days, the STARZ finished 2nd among 64 top teams from all over the country.

Over the week of August 5 to 12th, the STARZ went 4-2 in the ESPN Elite 32 World Series in Orlando, Florida. They finished 17th overall with tournament's most runs scored per game (11.3). Although they dropped two games late in the tournament that prevented a top 10 finish, they also posted the tournament's 2nd best run differential of 6.0 runs per game, second only to tournament champion Georgia Bandits (6.7). The Elite 32 is a USSSA Baseball year-ending event with some of the nation's finest teams that won USSSA Super National Invitational Tournaments during the year.

The Starz take 1st place in Boarder wars. After Beating the GGB Express 16-1 in the morning on saturday the Starz suffered a late inning let down and blew a 6 run lead to RBA South. This tough loss did not stop the Starz though. They went on to beat Man Up Baseball 15-1 on sunday Morning. Next, they defeated the tide water drillers 17-1. Than, in the semi finale the Starz won a hotly contested game with the Cubs Select, 8-4. Finally in the championship the Starz played the Evoshield Canes Black. The Starz jumped out to an early lead and never look back, defeating the Canes 15-7.

The Starz fought hard to take 2nd place while playing up in the Ripken 5 Tool 14U. In their first game on Saturday the Starz defeated the Hamilton As 14u 20-0. In their second game the Starz played a tight game with the BCC Bombers 14u. Powered by the strong pitching of Connor Barnes the Starz defeated Bcc Bombers 14u 7-4. In their first game on sunday the Starz played the Olney Pirates 14u. After a close game the Starz prevailed 8-6. In the semi finale of the tournement the Starz played the Gaithersburg Giants 14u. The Starz won this game by a score of 8-1. The Starz than advanced to the finale where they faced their older Starz 14u team. After a well played game by both teams the older Starz prevailed 6-3. The program was extremly well represented.

Arena Starz 13U team defeated The Forest Hill Storm in the Championship game to win the Ripken Fall 14U league.

The Arena Starz 13U team traveled to Spartansburg, SC to compete in the Jay Crispione Super NIT. The Starz played very well ending up 3rd for the entire tournament!

The 13U Arena Starz captured their first championship trophy of the year by going 3-1 in a 14U Wood Bat Tournament at In The Net in Hershey, PA. The Starz beat the Altoona Curve 14U in the Championship Game by a score of 3-1.

The Arena Starz Baseball Program's Mission is to provide an academy-style baseball experience, combining consistent, competitive team play with high caliber coaching and training designed to produce well-prepared high school athletes.
