Baymen End Regular Season with a Bang
Oyster Bay avenged an earlier road loss, with a 72-56 defeat of Roosevelt to finish with a 8 and 4 Conference record. Bryan Van Cott led all scores with 23 points, which puts him at 994 careeer points heading into the County Finals on February 19th. C.J. Durant continued his dominant play with 22 points and twelve rebounds. Brett Restrepo chipped in 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists. Kevin Silva was a dominant force in the paint once again with 7 blocked shots and 11 rebounds. Matt Capozzo ran the team to perfection with 9 assists and 5 steals. Alex Hudak chipped in with 4 points as the Baymen honored their seniors, Van Cott, Restrepo, Capozzo, Silva, and Hudak in their final regular season game at Imhoff Gymnasium.
High Hopes for Baymen
The 2008-2009 Oyster Bay Baymen return an experienced and talented group from last year's squad, and hope to build on it's Class "B" Finalist position. All County Senior Bryan Van Cott returns for his third Varsity campaign, coming into the season with 699 career points. Van Cott was a member of the Long Island Empire team and also played in the 2008 Nassa/Sufflok All Star Game. All Conference Forward, Kevin Silva leads a strong returning cast, which includes, Point Guard Matt Capozzo, Shooting Guard Brett Restrepo, Guard Joe Carbone, Forward Alex Hudak, and Transfer Forward C.J. Durant.
The Baymen open the season on Thursday December 4th with an opening round game in the Tom Robinson Memorial Tournament, against Glen Cove at 7:00.
