Sponsorship Announcement and News Update
We are pleased to announce that our Club sponsors Hancocks Cash and Carry and Lafarge Aggregates & Concrete UK have agreed to another two years of supporting the Blue Sox!
Lafarge have donated one and half tonnes of Ballast to help in the construction of the backstop, as well as 20 tonnes of dirt to keep our mound and bases in tip top condition this year and next.
The Back Stop build is currently on hold, as we may be able to secure some last minute funding from the city council. More news on this when we have it.
February 1 sees the Sox returning to Western Park for the first time in 2009. The plan is to spring clean the diamond; including a widening of the mound and tidying up of bases. Hopefully as many of the team can make it to help out, things kick off about 10am. Wheelbarrows, rakes and spades at the ready!
In addition to the coaching announcements made at last years awards evening, we are also pleased to announce that Adam Brown has agreed to be our infield coach. Adam brings a wealth of experience to the team via his involvement with Unibaseball and the Nottingham Thieves, and is a welcome addition to the Sox coaching set up.
And finally...you may have noticed that the new Blue Sox website has appeared on the internet. It's still currently "under construction", but may be finished some time in February. An official announcement will be made on this site regarding the "switch over" in due course.

2009 - A New Season Under Construction

Happy New Year!
2009 is shaping up to be our best yet. We shortly begin work on our much anticipated permanent backstop at Western Park. A tentative date of Sunday 1 February has been pencilled in the diary. Stay tuned for official confirmation of this and how to get involved on the day.
Once the backstop is in place, Spring Training will also be rolled out in February. Again stand by for exact dates and times, but the plan is to hold training on Sundays at a time to suit until such time we resume matches and are able to training in the evening.
Another exciting devleopment is the planned launch of Youth Baseball in Leicester this year, in association with BSUK. We will need volunteers to help run these sessions at Western Park, so again watch this space for an official announcement in due course.
As always, we are also on the lookout for new adult players, so if you have visited this site for the first time and would like to train with the Sox, then why not drop us a line? See below for more details.
Finally, expect the website to keep you updated on all developments during 2009. A site re-design and domain name are in development as we speak, so keep checking back.

Spring training is schedule to start on Sundays in mid-February. We usually train on Wednesday evenings as well, rain or shine - so long as there's daylight!
