Team Bomb Squad entered the game knowing with a win the team could find themselves in top of their division. The team took full advantage of the opportunity and began the game in their hot streak fashion.
In the bottom of the 1st, Dan Mok led the game with a line drive in the gap and the team rallied scoring 6 runs to take a 6 to zero lead. “It is always good to score first,” ESPN Sports Analyst Peter Gammons said. “Bomb Squad is a streaky team and with the exception of their loss to Local Motion, this team could have been undefeated had they won all the games they had leads in. That has been their strength – to jump out on top early. Closing games, however, has been particularly tough, but as of late, that has not been the case as the team has showed they can turn things around. You got to like their chances as they are considered a hot team in the league right now.”
Jay Ocreto contributed to his 4 for 4 efforts; drove in four runs and scored 4 times as well. JD reached base all four times he came to bat and also drove in four runs. “The production has been good,” Tu said.
Although Bomb Squad took an early lead, Crush came back and eventually made it a ball game.
Bomb Squad rallied however and scored early and often. Also, the team did something they were not able to do early in the season – close out the game. Art Q struggled defensively at shortstop, but the tandem of Art C and Art Q have made up for it in their double play fashions. Double plays have gone both ways – 4 to 6 to 3 and 6 to 4 to 3.
David Forst, head of ESPN Stat Analytics has gathered interesting statistics throughout the season. Some of them are as follows:
(1) TJ Leong has the highest Slugging Percentage Bomb Squad has ever seen in its record of its conception in the league at a whopping 1.833 slugging percentage. Others who have had Albert Pujols like seasons are Dan Saso in Spring of 07 when Saso had a slugging percentage of 1.450; Jay Ocreto had a 1.340 slugging percentage in Fall of 06, and who can forget Henry Vu’s outstanding season in Spring of 06 with his slugging percentage at 1.370. Only TJ Leong and Henry Vu have led the team in both Average and Slugging percentage in any season. Quite a list be on if you are on it.
(2) TJ leads the team with 5.5 total bases per game played this season.
(3) Gavin Chan statistic is stellar with runners on base. He has made every opportunity of runners on. He leads the team with 13 RBIs tied with Ken, and yet has played only 5 games. He leads the team with the lowest Left On Bases as well at 2.
(4) Compare Gavin Chan’s numbers to the Shortstop Art Q. Art Q has had the opposite effect. He is the leading the team as well as league with the most left runners on base at 12. Unheard of.
For the season, the team finds sole possession of first place. TJ has a current hit streak of 18, Dan Mok at 15, and Art C with 14. Not bad for Bomb Squad. The team will play this Friday with hopes to close the season in winning fashion.
