In the Majors division, Goorland scored 3 in the fifth to defeat Overtime Tickets 3-2 on Monday and take a 1-0 lead in the playoffs.  Game 2 is Wednesday.  In AAA, Touch of Health Massage battles Kerns Brothers Tree Service for the division championship. 

Juniors and Seniors playoffs will begin later this week.  Come out and support your favorite teams!

The Mathews family suffered a devastating loss on Saturday when their Harvey Road home erupted in flames.  The good news was that no one was injured, but the home is uninhabitable and much, if not all, was lost.  We will be collecting cash donations for the family during the Majors and AAA playoffs.  As we better understand specific family needs, we will provide updates here on the website.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to Frank and his family.

Brandywine Little League is excited to put together the following All-Star teams.  Teams are compiled of 13 players each and rosters are now posted under the 2013 BLL All-Stars tab (except for Seniors, Juniors, AAA, AA and A All-Stars, which will be posted once teams are formed and players alerted).  Managers from each regular season team in the league go through a voting process to select the All-Star teams that compete in Little League sanctioned tournaments, and players must have the unanimous vote of all managers (with the exception of their direct manager during the first round). While the managers do their best to put together the most competitive team, unfortunately and inevitably, there are disappointed players who do not make the teams.  Therefore, we ask managers, coaches, parents and players to be respectful of those who don't make the teams, and vice versa.  We congratulate all players who do make All-Star teams and know you'll represent Brandywine Little League well. 

Little League International/Regional Tournaments (Juniors and Seniors will be selected after June 15)
- Senior All-Stars can advance as far as the Senior League World Series in Bangor, Maine.  The team will be coached by JT Tate.
- Junior All-Stars can advance as far as the Junior League World Series in Taylor, Michigan.  The team will be coached by Bob Jump.
- Major All-Stars can advance as far as the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.  The team will be coached by Steve Blewitt.  The District 2 tournament schedule is posted in "Handouts."
- 9/10 Year-Old All-Stars can advance as far as an Eastern Regional Championship in Cranston, Rhode Island.  The district tournament is hosted by Naamans and Canal.  The team will be coached by Todd Farina, with 9 year-olds from Majors eligible to participate.

Local Invitational Tournaments
- 11/12 Year-Old All-Stars can advance to the Brandywine Invitational Championship, hosted by Brandywine Little League.  BLL enters two teams. Chris Fiorelli and Derek Lambert will be coaching these teams.  
- 9 Year-Old All-Stars can advance to the Delaware District 2 Championship, hosted by Capitol and Midway Little Leagues.  This team will be coached by Mike Malamaci.
- 8 Year-Old All-Stars can advance to the Delaware District 2 Championship, hosted by Suburban Little League. This team will be coached by Dan Biting.

Many thanks to everyone who participated in our 3rd annual cheesecake sale.  This year a total of 666 cheesecakes were sold and BLL made a profit of nearly $5,000, which was used to defray the cost to equip our new batting cages at Dyer Field (and our "old" cages at Brandywine Ballpark).  This year's top seller was one of our youngest ballplayers -- Christopher Brutsche of HyPoint in the Tee Ball Division.  Christopher sold 34 units and will receive a $100 cash prize, plus two 3 foot long sticks of bubble gum, a duffle bag and a hoodie.  HyPoint was the top selling team and will receive $50 to be used for a team party.  In all, 65 players earned a prize for selling five or more units.  If you have not picked up your cheesecake order, please do so this week at Brandywine Ballpark.

Our Annual Discount Card sale is concluding and all proceeds and unsold cards should be returned to Vikki McGarvey, who is running point on the Discount Card effort.  Remember, these cards are a great value -- one or two uses around town easily saves much more than the $5 cost.  Ask your family and friends to support BLL by purchasing one or more cards.  

This is ANOTHER shout out for HELP.  Perhaps you've noticed that our concession at Brandywine Ballpark has failed to open on a few recent nights. There is a simple explanation -- we need more help to manage our concession stands.  If you are willing to spare one night a week or part of the day on a Saturday, we will train you to be a day/evening manager of our concession operation.  We'll work around your schedule so you won't miss your child's games -- or you can manage on a night of your child's game if you can't stand the PRESSURE.  Your willingness to VOLUNTEER means our players and fans' appetites will be fulfilled with Dyer dogs, Brandywine beverages, and more!  Call Chris Fiorelli today at 302-559-6769!  BLL runs on volunteer power -- so please call today!
