Principals of sportsmanship and fair play
July 15, 2005 In order to advance the principals of sportsmanship and fair play and to promote mutual respect among players, coaches, umpires and spectators the Brookfield Baseball and Softball Association has established a "Code of Conduct".
The Code of Conduct shall govern the actions of players, coaches and spectators. The Code is intended to provide behavioral guidance and establish clear expectations for all involved. The Code was not conceived to address every possible behavioral circumstance, however, it shall serve as the Association's standard for behavioral evaluation.

    Players shall:
Display good sportsmanship and team play at all times.
Follow the direction of the Coaching Staff.
Respect all, coaches, players, league officials, umpires and spectators.
Make every attempt to be on time and ready to play for all games and practices.
    Players shall not:
    Use abusive or profane language.
Taunt or humiliate any other player, this includes singing or in any way intentionally distracting the pitcher .
    Question an umpire's call.
Abuse, mistreat or mishandle any equipment or property (e.g., throwing batting helmets)

No coach, player, parent or spectator may ever address, in a negative way, the umpires or coaches or other players. Use of profanity by a manager, coach, player parent or spectator will not be tolerated. At the coaches, umpires or league official's discretion, the manager, player, spectator or coach, may or may not be warned. If the misbehavior continues, the manager or coach will be requested to leave the grounds, and if such person refuses to leave, the game will be forfeited to the non-offending team. All decisions made by umpires are final.
