VALDEZ ACCEPTS BASEBALL SCHOLARSHIP & SIGNS NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT TO ST. MARY'S
 
Jake Valdez, a senior RHP at Westview High School and Lookouts assistant coach, accepted an athletic scholarship and signed a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday, January 25th to play Division I baseball and continue his education at Saint Mary's College in Moraga, California beginning in the Fall 2012.   

Valdez, a three-year starter at WHS,  played the last three summer seasons with the Lookouts and began working with the younger Lookouts as an assistant coach in the Spring 2011.  He follows Nik Bandak (San Pasqual High School, '04) and Scott Schneider (Torrey Pines High School, '06) to Saint Mary's.  Schneider is currently playing in Double-A with the St. Louis Cardinals.

14U LOOKOUTS WIN XDS MLK WINTER STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
January 16, 2012 – 05:00 PM

 
The 14U Lookouts won the XDS MLK Winter State Championships held January 14-16 at the Sportsplex USA in Santee, Ca and the Sportsplex USA in Poway, Ca.  During pool play, the Lookouts were defeated by the East County Rattlers and The Academy before defeating the San Diego Gamers.  Seeded #6 out of pool play, the Lookouts defeated the Escondido Eagles to advance to the Championship game.  In the Championship game, the Lookouts defeated the San Diego Gamers.

12U RED WIN 9TH ANNUAL TCS CHRISTMAS QUALIFIER
December 18, 2011 – 08:45 PM

 
The 12U Lookouts Red won the 9th Annual TCS Christmas Qualifier held December 17-18 at Lakeside National in Lakeside, Ca.  During pool play, the Red defeated the Chula Vista Green Sox and the Brickyard Cages Baseball Academy.  Seeded #1 out of their pool, the Red defeated the Mad Dogs in the quarter-final game to advance to the semi-final game.  In the semi-final game, the Red defeated MIT Blue to advance to the Championship game.  In the Championship, the Red defeated the Academy.  With the Championship victory, the Red qualified for the TCS World Series held in Park City, UT and the TCS Fall Nationals held in Henderson, NV.

14U LOOKOUTS FINISH SECOND AT 2011 USSSA STRIKE OUT HUNGER
December 11, 2011 – 04:30 PM

 
The 14U Lookouts finished second at the 2011 USSSA Strike Out Hunger held December 10-11 at BLD Riverside.  During pool play, the Lookouts were defeated by BBWC before defeating the Titans.  Seeded #2 out of their pool, the Lookouts defeated the Action Crushers in the quarter-final game to advance to the semi-final game.  In the semi-final game, the Lookouts defeated the Black Mountain Ballers to advance to the Championship game.  In the Championship game, the Lookouts were defeated by BBWC.

The 11U Lookouts Black won the XDS Rawlings Holiday Classic held Dec 3-4 at Birdsall Sports Park in Temecula, Ca.  During pool play, the Black defeated the Blacksox and the Menifee Mayhem.  Seeded #1 out of their pool, the Black defeated the Blacksox in the semi-final game to advance to the Championship game.  In the Championship game, the Black defeated the Xplosion.

The 11U Lookouts Red finished second at the XDS Turkey Trot Rings NIT held November 26-27 at the Sweetwater Sports Complex in Chula Vista, Ca.  During pool play, the Red were defeated by the San Diego Dawgs prior to defeating the Bigs.  In the semi-final game, the Red defeated the Encinitas Edge to advance to the Championship game.  In the Championship game, the Red lost a heartbreaker to the SD Show.

The 13U Lookouts Black won the Xtreme Diamond Sports Extra Innings Classic held October 15-16 at Birdsall Sports Park in Temecula, CA.  During pool play, the Black tied the Whittier Kaos and were defeated by the IE 66ers.  In the semi-final game, the Black defeated the Whittier Kaos to advance to the Championship game.  In the Championship game, the Black defeated the San Diego Hooks.

JOSH MONKS NAMED RECIPIENT OF 1ST ANNUAL BILL BRESNAHAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Josh Monks, a 2011 graduate of Rancho Bernardo High School and a former Lookouts ballplayer, was presented with the 1st Annual Bill Bresnahan Memorial Scholarship on Tuesday, August 9th for his excellence in the classroom, on the ball field and in the community.  Monks will continue his education during the Fall 2011 & Spring 2012 at the University of Maryland.  Congratulations Josh!

CHAD DEVOS NAMED RECIPIENT OF 1ST ANNUAL DAVID J. NUNEZ MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Chad DeVos, a 2011 graduate of Westview High School and a former Lookouts ballplayer, was presented with the 1st Annual David J. Nunez Memorial Scholarship on Tuesday, August 9th for his excellence in the classroom, on the ball field and in the community. DeVos will continue his education during the Fall 2011 & Spring 2012 at the University of California, Davis.  Congratulations Chad!

HOME RUN FOR CHELSEA
May 22, 2011 – 08:00 PM

 
On Sunday, May 22nd, the Lookouts Foundation hosted 13 teams at WHS that participated in the Home Run for Chelsea tournament.  Throughout the day, the 10U Lookouts Black, the 10U Lookouts Red, the 11U Lookouts Red, the 12U Lookouts Red and the 14U Lookouts competed at WHS and Cliffridge Park in La Jolla.  As the day came to a close, the 12U Lookouts Red and the 14U Lookouts graciously welcomed Brent and Kelly King to WHS.   The King family came to personally thank the ballplayers, their families and the volunteers that were involved in the tournament. 
 
The tournament, with over 100 teams playing at nine different locations, raised more than $25,000 for the Chelsea's Light Foundation.  The Chelsea's Light Foundation was established in honor of Poway teen Chelsea King and aims to provide legislative and education measures to protect children from sexual predators. 
 
The Lookouts Foundation thanks our ballplayers and families for their unbelievable contributions in time and donations to ensure the Home Run for Chelsea tournament was a success!
