Welcome to the home of the
Calvary Lady Cavs Softball

|
The Middle School Lady Cavs shutout Cope middle school 7-0 in their first game Saturday, despite the cold conditions. Tiff Williams took the circle and gave up 1 hit and 1 walk with 4 strike outs in 2 innings. Cheyenne Hoare came on in relief and walked 1 while striking out 1. The ladies could only muster 3 hits with both Morgan Woodle and Tiff going 1 for 2 while Hannah Bolton went 1 for 1. Jaci May took one for the team as she was hit by a pitch in the third. Base running was also a plus for us with Morgan Collins, Morgan Woodle and Hollan Knight stealing 2 bases each, while both Hannah May and Jaci May added one each. Cope had quite a few defensive miscues, especially behind the plate, which aided our cause. Be thankful for good catching! Both our catchers, Morgan Woodle and Lizzy Lafisca caught girls trying to steal. Our defense was good with Morgan Collins and Haley May executing a niffty rundown in the third.
In the second game, the ladies ran into a buzz saw as Haughton no hit the Lady Cavs with a 9-0 score. Haughton has several travel ball players and their experience showed. Our defense was okay but this team could really hit and run the bases, not to mention their very good pitching. Jaci May got the starting assignment for us and gave up 6 earned runs on 6 hits with 4 walks. Cheyenne Hoare pitched the third inning and allowed 1 earned run on 1 hit with 3 walks and 2 strike outs. Jaci and Cheyenne combined for 52% strikes which was good.
The last game of the day was a 10-0 spanking by Elm Grove as they 1 hit the Lady Cavs. Our defense committed numerous errors which combined with Elm Grove's hitting was our demise. Morgan Collins had our lone hit in the first. Tiff Williams pitched the game throwing 64% strikes. Unfortunately, Elm Grove collected 10 hits and 3 earned runs, while Tiff walked 3 and struck out 2. Our opponent also had several travel ball players and their extra experience did not help us a bit.
Next game Monday, Feb. 8 at Lakeside.
A very big thank you to all of the parents and players that showed up for the work day. We got a lot of stuff accomplished. Thank you to everyone that donated things to the program. We think we will look really good for the visiting teams on Monday and Tuesday, our first home games for middle school. More improvements are still to come as the season progresses. Anything that can be donated will be greatly appreciated. Once again to one and all it was a great turnout.
