    2009 Season Awards Announced!
With the tremendous statistics put up by the Black Wolves in 2009, this was the hardest year deciding our award winners. The coaches had to take a hard look at consistency, team records and game determining events to sort through the candidates.

MVP_ALEX JOHNSON Alex came to the Wolves in 09' from Cleveland State and had an immediate impact. A true 5 tool player who is one of the most complete players in all of Ohio. In 2009, Alex broke the all-time hits record with 53, shattered the RBI record with 45 and destroyed the triples record with 8. He ended up with a .417 batting average, had 36 runs, 9 2B's, 2HR's and 16 SB's. On top of all that, he is probably the fastest player in the league, playing center and left field for the Wolves. Alex came up with one of the most remarkable plays in Black Wolves history that put the team into the regional tournament.

CY YOUNG_MIKE HERRINGSHAW The entire Black Wolves pitching staff dominated all year. That's what makes it so remarkable that this choice was so easy. In Mike's first year joining the team, he doubled the team’s all-time wins record by going 12-0. When there was a big game, Mike was usually the guy who took the ball. In tournament play, after going all 7 in the semi's, he asked to pitch the very next day in the championship where he would earn his 12th Win. At the end of the day, Mike came out with a 0.59 era after a record high 70 2/3rds innings pitched with only 6ER's. 7 of his 11 starts ended in complete game victories.

GOLD GLOVE_DAVID VITKO The success during David's second season with the Wolves was of no surprise. Everyone knew what he could do at the plate, but he clearly stepped his game up in more areas this year. He nearly doubled the SB record with 29, drew more walks than anyone in the 6 year history of the team with 28 and at second base, David had more put outs then anyone on the team by far. All year, ground balls to the right side were nothing more than automatic outs for the Wolves pitching staff. All 9 defensive positions this year played well above average and every position player had highlight plays. But David was more consistent in what he did on the diamond than anyone.

    Wolves Season Ends In Youngstown
August 7, 2009 The Black Wolves took their bid to the Youngstown Regional Tournament and made a quick exit on day one. After a stretch between games, the Wolves lacked the magic they had all season that lead them their with a 39-3 record. In game one they were out hit, and in game two, a 3-run blast did them in. At the end of the day, even though some of the goals were not met, this season was a success in so many ways. Thank you again to everyone who helped make this season so special. 39 and 5 is nothing to be ashamed of. Next season will be interesting. The Black Wolves have clearly become one of the elite teams within the nearby states. Can they continue or even improve on their accomplishments? What players will come back for unfinished business and what players will migrate over to join this outstanding team? Time will tell! The coaching staff will be in the works early again this season to make many improvements to this team. Playing on better fields, sponsors, playing against more top competition and surrounding our existing talent with other great players are some of the staff's top agenda's. We hope you will be a part of it!

Wolves Take The Playoff Series Championship & Are Heading To Youngstown! What A Game!
July 30, 2009 For some reason, the Wolves have had a hard time against Bedford and Bedford was the team they had to beat to continue the season and get to the NABF regionals. The first time they played, the Black Wolves took the game with ease but in the opening round of the post season, Bedford stunned the Wolves with their first loss in league play. Tonight would be the ultimate tie breaker and one heck of a game!

Mike Herringshaw took the mound on 0 days rest after throwing all 7 the day before. Big pitchers want the ball in these kinds of games and when your ace asks for the rock, you give it to him. In the first inning Mike gave up his only run through his 4 innings of work. The Wolves would bring the game back to a tie right away when David Vitko lead the inning off with a double to left center and Alex Johnson Tripled to right. Two guys who can hit the cover off the ball and absolutely fly at the top of the order always helps. Unfortunately nobody was able to knock in the second run. The top of the order came through again in the 3rd when Johnson ripped a double. Alex stole third and then Kyle Dunn smoked a frozen rope to dead center, allowing Alex to tag up and take the lead.

In the 5th, Branden Stucky entered the game who has the kind of movement on his pitches that most major leaguers dream of having. After getting through the 5th & 6th unharmed, the 7th inning was an inning to remember. After striking out the leadoff hitter, Bedford ripped a single in the gap. An outstanding play by Johnson would keep the runner at 1st. That’s when Bedford’s 3 hitter absolutely crushed a ball to left center. Alex Johnson who is probably the fastest player in the CABL would sprint over 100 feet and layout to make a game saving unbelievable grab over his left shoulder.

This probably goes down as the greatest play in Black Wolves history when you take into consideration the amazement and importance of such a catch. He then got up and fired a ball from deep left center without even a bounce to nearly get the runner going back to first. The ball would get away on the play however and move the tying run to third base. Stucky then got Bedford’s four hitter to hit a soft lineout to Vitko at second to close out the game and continue this wonderful summer to Youngstown. What a game!!
    BIG GAMES: Herringshaw>W,4IP,1R – Johnson>2-3,2B,3B,R,RBI,Play of the Season! – Vitko>1-2,2B,R,BB – K.Dunn>RBI,BB – Stucky>Save,3IP,5K’s

Wolves Ace Shuts Down Buckeyes To Head To The Championship!
July 29, 2009 Two Goliaths of the CABL matched up today. One was going to meet Bedford in the Championship Series, the other was going home for the summer. The Wolves relied on the arm of their ace Mike Herringshaw who went all 7 innings only giving up 2 hits. Mike doesn’t have a high 80’s fastball like many of our pitchers do, but there is no better pitcher in the league than Mike. As if he wasn’t impressive enough on the mound, Mike went 2-3 with an RBI at the plate to basically single handedly outperform his opponents. The Wolves were able to score all of their 5 runs in the first 2 innings off the Buckeyes ace and collected 9 hits throughout the night. At the end of the day the Black Wolves took the game 5-0 and head to the championship to show Bedford that their 1 inning of work last week was a fluke…. And They Will!
    BIG GAMES: Herringshaw>CG-W,0R+2hits,RBI - S.Dunn>2-3,RBI - Johnson>2-3,3B,RBI,R

    Sambula No-Hits The C-Town Woodies!
July 28, 2009 The Wolves are loaded with great pitchers, but Anthony Sambula did what nobody else has done yet this season, a no-hitter. Though it was only in 5 innings, you can mostly blame that on the offense for putting up the 12 runs to run rule the C-Town Woodies. The Black Wolves played solid defense all night even though most of the game was watching Sambula fire fastballs to the catcher. At the plate the Wolves were patient while smoking everything put over the plate. At the end of the night after 16 hits, the Wolves move on with a 12-0 win and will take on the Buckeyes for the right to play in the championship series against their new league rivals… Bedford
    BIG GAMES: Sambula>5IP,0H,0R,5K's - S.Dunn>3-4,2B,2RBI's,2R - Vitko,K.Dunn,Papesh,Lowe,Korinek>2 hits each

Black Wolves battle with rain, umpire and CMBC/Davis to move on!
July 27, 2009 After a long stretch between games due to the weather, the Black Wolves found themselves in a single elimination game against CMBC/Davis. Nate Dick got the start and was able to limit the opposition to only 1 unearned run. On The other side the offense had to face a former major leaguer who was determined to stop the Wolves this time after his first 2 tries were unsuccessful. Fortunately for the Black Wolves, the bats were present while battling 90mph fastballs with a sunset right over centerfield. Not to mention a field that was too soaked to be properly played on. At the end of the day the Wolves move on with a 5-1 victory.
    BIG GAMES: Dick>W,5IP,4H,1R,0ER - S.Dunn>1-2,5RBI's - Papesh>2-2,2B,BB,SB - Vitko>1-2,BB,2R,SB,big defensive play!

    Wolves Blow The Big One
July 21, 2009 After a 22 and 0 record in league play, The Wolves blow the big game to get to the championship series. Inexcusable defense and rocky pitching in the first inning led to 7 quick runs. The rest of the game, the offense followed with only 3 hits the entire game. Now the Wolves have to take the long road to get back through the single elimination part of the tournament.

Wolves Wrap Up Regular Season Undefeated!! 22-0
July 18, 2009 Wrapping up the regular season, the Wolves were able to take down Becky's Tavern 11-1 in 6 innings. Today’s spotlight is on the Black Wolves coaching staff Jim Dunn, Craig Siemen and Kyle Dunn for finishing up undefeated in the Cleveland Adult Baseball League at 22 and 0 with an overall team record of 34 and 2. Most don't realize the hundreds of sacrificed hours outside the diamond by this staff to put together this team and truly make it the best summer program in Northern Ohio. From recruiting the best players in the area, scheduling top notch competition outside the league, creating a professional image and winning... Congratulations to the staff and all the players and parents who helped make this happen. Now the real season begins as the playoffs have arrived. Let’s see how far this group can go!

    Herringshaw Wins The Pitching Duel!
July 14, 2009 Even when the hitting has been light, the Black Wolves pitching has always been the deciding factor. Today was no different as Mike Herringshaw was as good as it gets, going 6 innings letting only 1 run in. Steve’s Sports pitcher was working the corners all night, giving the Wolves nothing juicy to pound on. In the third, Kyle Dunn was able to rip a bases loaded single into left field for the only 2 Black Wolves runs of the ball game. The Wolves only gathered 2 total hits the entire afternoon, but it was just enough to escape with a 2-1 win. Stucky was able to pick up another save keeping the team undefeated within league play.
    BIG GAMES: Mike Herringshaw>W,6IP,3H,1R – K.Dunn>1-3,2RBI’s - Lowe>1-2,R,ROE, Threw out 1 runner

Wolves Hook A Marlin In Extra's
July 12, 2009 Not a lot of offense from either team today as both squads got good pitching. On the Black Wolves side Nate Dick pitched a solid 5 and then turned it over to the bullpen. The game went extra innings with a tie score of 1-1. With 2 outs in the 8th, Alex Johnson smoked a triple to right center field. Papesh then came up with a big 2 out knock to center for the walk off win against the Fairview Marlins. Matt Kappler picks up the win after throwing two strong innings.
    BIG GAMES: Dick>5IP,1R, - Kappler>W,2IP,0R – Lanzara>2-2,2B,BB,SB - Solitario>2-2,BB,R,SB - A.Johnson>8th inning triple – Papesh>game winning hit

    Wolves Show Up....Sort Of
July 10, 2009 Apparently today was optional as the Wolves only started with 8 players. Those who were able to fit today’s game into their busy schedule’s came to play. Stephen Dunn made his first start of the year on the mound and kept CMBC/Davis off balance all night. Along the way he was also able to rip 3 singles of his own, bringing in 3 RBI’s. The Wolves were able to put 10 runs on the board by the 2nd inning and cruised to an 11-2 victory. With today's win the Black Wolves have clinched the CABL regular season championship and will be the #1 seed for the National League heading into the playoffs.
    BIG GAMES: S.Dunn>W,6IP,7K’s,2R+3hits,3RBI’s,3R’s – K.Dunn & Vitko>2hits each

    Back To The Grind
July 7, 2009 There was concern coming into today’s game that the team would be a little sluggish after the 4th of July tournament. I’m not going to lie, standing in the dugout the team was more relaxed than usual. That did not stop the talent from taking over. Mike Herringshaw dominated another afternoon going all seven without surrendering a run. Meanwhile the offense kept chipping away every inning to build up a 9-0 win by the end of the night. The Black Wolves capture their 30th victory of the season. It will take a lot more however for the team to accomplish their ultimate goal. A World Series title!
    BIG GAMES: Herringshaw>7IP,7K’s,0R,4H – Papesh>3-3,2B,3B,3R,2RBI’s – Vitko,S.Dunn,K.Dunn>2 Hits Each

4th of July - Firecracker Tournament
    July 2, 2009 GAME 1 > vs. Hurricanes - What A Game!
The Wolves wanted to see good pitching and they got it in the form of a former Major League reliever for the Florida Marlins who threw low 90's with some nasty breaking balls all 7 innings. The good news is the Wolves were up to the task. They jumped out with a 3-1 lead off Alex Johnsons Double in the first. Tom Farmer started off for the Black Wolves and had a solid performance. It was fun to watch two guys hitting 90mph go at it head to head all night. In the sixth after the Wolves let a run come in, Zach Papesh led things off and pulled a fastball over the right field fence to keep a 2 run lead going into the 7th. That's when the Hurricanes came on strong and took the lead with some timely hitting. In the bottom of the 7th, Lanzara got on by an error and stole 2nd, Vitko ripped a double to tie it up, and Kyle Dunn layed down a beautiful bunt down the 3rd base line for a hit. On the errored throw from the play, Vitko came in to score for the walk off win! This was probably the most impressive win of the season when you consider getting 9 hits and 6 runs off a former major leaguer and coming back to steal a win in the 7th the way they did! What a game!
    BIG GAMES: Vitko>2-3,2-2B's,2R's,RBI - K.Dunn>1-1,2-BB's,HBP,R,Game Winning RBI - Vernon>2-3,RBI,R - Papesh>3-3,HR,R,RBI -
    A.Johnson>1-3,2B,2RBI's

GAME 2 > vs. Blue Sox - Hard Hits Finally Pay Off In Late Innings!
All night the Black Wolves were tearing the cover off the baseball. It seemed everything was either right at someone, or was caught by an unbelievable Berea defense in the first 3 innings. Down 5-1, the offense finally found the holes and were able to come back to get by the Sox 7-6. Nate Dick picked up the win but wasn't as effective due to a very poor strike zone. Good pitchers learn to throw knee high pitches and Nate has perfected that, however when you raise the strike zone up 4-5 inches, it hurts polished pitchers. Either way, good teams find a way.
    BIG GAMES: Reitenbach>3-4,2B,2R - S.Dunn>3-3,2RBI's,2R - Lowe>2-3,3RBI's

GAME 3 > vs. Wayne Holmes - Wrong League!
In game three, Wayne Holmes discovered that they had made a big mistake in entering this tournament. The Wolves took the game in 5 innings by a score of 18-1. BIG GAMES: Nate Dick> For keeping score (minus his K!)

FINAL FOUR > vs. Fairview Marlins - Chirping Bench Quiets Down After Rally!
The Marlins are a class team, but chirping by some of the bench players led to the Wolves deciding a bit of a spanking was in order. In the opening game of the final four, Fairview jumped out early with 2 runs. While it took a few innings for the Wolves to get rolling at the plate, when it came, it came hard! One in the 4th, six in the 5th and three in 7th that resulted in a 10-2 win. Another come from behind victory that would vault the Black Wolves into the championship game!
    BIG GAMES: Stucky> 5IP,0R,K - Vitko, A. Johnson and Papesh, (2,3,4 hitters)>6H,6R,4RBI's - Every starter had a hit.

CHAMPIONSHIP > vs. Allegheny - It All Goes Wrong In The Finals.
From the mound and at the plate, the Black Wolves just never got it going against the young PA team. The Wolves continued to make loud outs at the plate (Emphasis on outs). The difference in one team using metal while the other used wood was clearly noticeable but not an excuse. When you hear "we can beat these guys 9 out of 10 times", there’s still that 1 game hanging out there which was today’s. It was the 5th inning that was the game changer as the Tigers were able to put 5 runs on the board. In the end, the Wolves made a late charge and was a diving grab away from an Allegheny outfielder, from probably hoisting the trophy. Congratulations to Allegheny, they absolutely earned this championship.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE BLACK WOLVES 2009 ALL-STAR SELECTIONS
Come and watch your favorite Black Wolves on the National League All-Star Team take on the American League All-Stars, Friday July 10th @ 7pm - Talty Field. Mike Herringshaw who now holds the team record in Wins is 7 and 0 with a remarkable 0.16 ERA was selected. His Teammates Alex Johnson who is hitting over .450 with 27 RBI's and Stephen Dunn hitting .419 with 19 RBI's will be joining Mike. While many more players are deserving, a maximum of 3 players can be selected for the team. Jim Dunn, Kyle Dunn and Craig Siemen will be coaching the National Team and were selected as coaches do to the Black Wolves 17-0 record within the CABL.

    Starting From Scratch
June 28, 2009 The start of a new winning streak hopefully just started today as the Black Wolves defeated Winking Lizard 10-2. Mike Herringshaw picked up another complete game win which gives him the record for the most wins in a season for any Black Wolves pitcher with 8. Congratulations Mike. A lot of records are going to be broken this year by this group.
    BIG GAMES: Danny Lammers>H,3R,3RBI’s – Mike Herringshaw>CG-W,1ER,0BB

Black Wolves Split With NABF's Best... All Good Things Come To An End.
June 27, 2009 The Black Wolves traveled to Sandusky to take on the Ohio Monarchs who won the NABF World Series in 2008. Against this level of competition, they new they had to step there game up. In game 1, Kori Korinek threw 6 strong innings only allowing 2 hits. On the offensive end Kyle Dunn and Zach Papesh led the way with 2 hits along with David Vitko who put one over the fence to dead center. Matt Kappler came in and picked up the save for a 4-3 victory. In game two, the Monarchs jumped out early with an onslaught of hits and runs. From that point the Wolves were trying to play catch up all after noon and almost did. In the end it wasn't enough as the Black Wolves for the first time all season were beaten 10-7. All good things come to an end as the Wolves get ready to start another winning streak tomorrow. Loosing is never good, but against the best the NABF has to offer isn't the worst thing in the world. Especially with a lot of their regular's out of the line-up. This may just help the Wolves realize that even with their talent, just showing up doesn’t guarantee a win.
    BIG GAMES: Kori Korinek>W,6IP,2ER,2H,3K's - Kyle Dunn>3hits,RBI,2R's - Zach Papesh>3hits,R - Vitko>2h,HR,2R,3RBI's

    Playing Well Enough To Win
June 27, 2009 With a short handed line-up, the Black Wolves were able to take out CMBC/Davis 7 -5. Branden Stucky started off and had a very strong performance until the 5th when he got a little tired and gave up 3 runs. The Wolves offense led by Zach papesh with 3 hits and David Vitko with 2, were able to put up 7 runs to hold off this young team that has a lot of potential in this league. Nate Dick was able to pick up a quick save in the seventh

Big Inning Takes Down Steve's Sports
June 23, 2009 The Wolves bats picked up tonight but the hits didn't come in bunches except in the 3rd. With one run in, Zach Papesh came up with the biggest AB of the game by bringing in 3 runs on a two out bases loaded double. He was then knocked in with another hit for a total of 5 runs. That's more than enough run support when Mike Herringshaw is on the mound. Once again Mike threw a complete game and picked up the win allowing only 4 hits with no walks or runs. Some of the credit also goes to the defense as they consistently were able to turn tough plays into outs. Mike has already tied the team record in wins and within a weeks time, will probably hold the record. The Wolves now hold a 3 game lead in the CABL and post an overall record of 22 and 0.
    BIG GAMES> Herringshaw:7IP,0R,4H,0BB,CG-W / Papesh:2-3,2-2B's,3RBI's,R / A. Johnson:2-4,2-2B's,R / Vitko:2-4,SB,R / Wolves Defense!

Korinek And Papesh Take Down The Spiders
June 23, 2009 In his most impressive performance of the year, and there has been many, Kori Korinek took the hill against another top team and completely shut them down. In 6 innings Kori recorded 13K’s and only allowed 3 base runners all day. On the Offensive end, The Wolves were a bit off but were able to scrape up 3 runs to take down the Spiders. The nice thing about having great hitters 1 through 9, is that anyone in the lineup could be the big performer of the day. That came true again as Zach Papesh stepped up going 3-3 with a double and a triple along side of his RBI. Stucky came in and as always, faced 3 hitters and picked up the save.

    Pair of Aces
June 19, 2009 It’s easy to say “we have our ace going tonight” when your entire starting rotation is considered one. Today Mike Herringshaw and Nate Dick did their usual during Thursday’s day/night double header and allowed the Wolves to come out with 2 wins. Game one went 3-1 and game two 11-1. The Black Wolves have now won 20 straight and intend to keep this streak going for the rest of the regular season and hopefully beyond!
    BIG GAMES> Herringshaw:CG-W,5K’s – Dick:CG-W, 7K’s – Solitario & Reitenbach: 3 Hits on the afternoon each

    3 Hours Later......Another Win!
June 17, 2009 Normally a 7 inning game does not take 3 hours. This one did. At the end of a very long night, the Black Wolves defeated CMBC/Davis 13 to 5. Jason Reitenbach started off the night on the mound, went 3 innings and once he settled down, was effective. Zach Johnson brought back his low 90’s fastball to the team for 2 and Stephen Dunn pitched a very effective 6th and 7th. The Player of the night by far though was Alex Johnson who went 5 for 5 with a double, a triple, 3RBI’s, 4 Runs and is leading this high powered offense in most offensive categories. The Black Wolves take their record to 18-0 and remain at the top of the CABL at 11-0.

Wolves Play Small Ball To Take Down The Bearcats!
June 14, 2009 A beautiful afternoon for baseball as two of the leagues top teams met up. Korinek got the nod, not having his best stuff, was able to pitch well enough to pitch another quality outing on his way to collecting his 3rd win of the season. Some timely 2 out hitting by Steve Dunn and David Vitko helped out all afternoon. At the end of the day, in a very competitive game, the Black Wolves improved to 17-0 by taking down the Bedford Bearcats 8-4. Branden Stucky picked up the save and is yet to give up a run this season. BIG GAMES: David Vitko:2-3,3B,3RBI's,BB / Stephen Dunn:2-4,2R,2RBI's / Matt McAllester:2-4,3R

    Road Wins Against The Monarchs
June 13, 2009 The Black Wolves traveled to Toledo to take on the Ohio Monarch's Blue in a two game series. In game 1, Nate Dick threw a 1 hit complete game while the offense was able to scrape up one run in the 7th to take first one. In game 2, Anthony Sambula followed up with another 1 hitter. Unlike Nate, he got a little more run support as the Wolves put up 16 runs. It was a good road trip, and two big wins to add to the Black Wolves resume.

    Herringshaw Shuts Down The Spiders!
June 12, 2009 On Friday, 2 of the top teams in the division squared off for a 7 inning contest. The Undefeated Wolves were able to give the ATC Spiders their 3rd loss of the season as Mike Herringshaw threw yet another complete game gem giving up just 1 run. David Vitko led the way with 2 hits, a big RBI and Jason Reitenbach who scored both runs with a single and a double. Big win by the Wolves who struggled all night at the plate due to a sunset right over center field. Both teams had the same conditions, but good teams find a way to get the job done! The Wolves now posses a comfortable lead on top of the division, but are making no plans of stepping off the gas.

25-0 Thats All I'm Going To Say
June 9, 2009 When probably the best NABF team in Ohio, plays probably the worst, this is what happens. In just 4.5 Innings, the Wolves walked away with a 25-0 win to take them to 13-0 on the season. BIG GAME award goes to Nate Dick for trying to keep the stats!

    Take 3!
June 8, 2009 In a triple header on Sunday, the Black Wolves once again dominated the afternoon. First it was a league game against the Black Sox and then a double header against the Lake County Lakers. At the end of the day, the Wolves out scored their opponents 37-3 to take all 3 and remain undefeated through their first 12 games. The pitching was very good and the offense was just as impressive. Today's BIG GAME awards go to the entire team. most teams would have slowed down by the third game of a triple header, but the Wolves just got stronger and stronger each game. The scary thing is that this team could be getting better! The guys off to a slow start aren't anymore, the guys who have been playing well are on fire, and after everyone had over 10 AB's today, the offense is really hitting their stride.

    Complete Game Win From Herringshaw!
June 5, 2009 Only giving up 5 hits, Mike Herringshaw was able to pick up the complete game win against the Lake County Lakers. The offense was able to scrape up 12 hits and roll past the Lakers 5-1. The Black Wolves remain undefeated through the first 9 games. This should be fun to see if they can keep this going through the entire regular season. That is the goal, a very obtainable goal if the Wolves stay focused.
    BIG GAMES: Mike Herringshaw>7IP,CGWIN,3K's,0ER - Jason Reitenbach>3-4,2B,R,2RBI's - Matt McAllester>3-4,2R,SB - David Vitko>2-3,2B,R,BB

Style Points Don't Count, As Long As You Win!
June 4, 2009 In a game you wouldn't expect to be competitive, Becky's Tavern was able to make a game out of it. Both teams struggled with the conditions all night, but the Wolves were able to walk out with the 9-7 win. On a bright note, Josh Lowe who recently joined the team from Cleveland State was able to drop 2 bombs that easily cleared the 330ft. fence in left. Not that this teams offense wasn't loaded enough, Josh gives us yet another slugger in the middle of this line-up. BIG GAMES: Josh Lowe>2-4,2HR,2R,2RBI's - Brian Solitario>3-3,2R,2SB - Alex Johnson>2-2,3B,2R,RBI,2BB,3SB - Jason Reitenbach>2-3,2B,3B,2R,RBI,BB

    Extra Innings.....No Problem!
June 2, 2009 You knew this game would go down to the wire. On Tuesday, The Wolves squared off against the team that will probably be fighting to take back 1st place in the division all year, Steve's Sports. In a Pitchers duel, Anthony Sambula was dominant the whole night. The Wolves offense was kept in check by a good pitching opponent, but were able to jump out to a 3 run lead. In the 6th, the Wolves allowed 3 runs to cross which would eventually lead to extra innings. May 30, 2009 The team traveled to Pittsburgh to take on St. John's Lambros, One of the best teams in that Nation over the past few seasons. Due to weather, the double header turned into one 9. However, The Wolves put on a baseball clinic instead, ending it in the 7th with a 17-3 victory. With a roster full of ex-professionals, Nate Dick and Matt Kappler pitched beautifully giving up only 6 hits. But the big story was an offensive onslaught of 21 hits and 17 runs in just 7 innings, against high quality pitching. Jason Reitenbach led the way going 4-4, 2B, 3R, BB, 3RBI's and Alex Johnson 4-6, 3B, 2R, 3RBI's. At the end of the day, seven Wolves had 2+ hits. With this loaded line-up and ridiculous pitching, this team can go as far as it wants to this year.
