Thanks to those that have made a difference these past few weeks.  The Bauman family appreciates you generosity and kindness!

Three members of our  Regional Champion Girls U12 team placed a Concord Capitals jersey at the Boylston St. Memorial site wall . . .

THANK YOU to Madelyn, Darby, and Maggie !

Concord Youth Hockey asks you to lend a helping hand . . .  Not all that long ago, I was temporarily incapacitated and without the use of a limb.  Maybe that's why Concord Youth Hockey asked me to write to you.  I can only imagine what the loss of two limbs might be like.  Just taking a shower or brushing your teeth over the sink is now done in a chair . . .  A chair you have to slide to from another chair.  STAIRS??  Forget those - without help!  And a favorite of mine and the Bauman family, skating and playing hockey with your brothers, sisters, or Mom and Dad . . .  Just a memory for the 27 year-old Jeff Bauman, Jr.  (Jeff is the young man in the photo that most have seen.)

The Bauman family is no stranger to Concord Youth Hockey.  This family has been with us since 2002!  Ten years of Concord Youth Hockey.  Alan, the youngest of the Bauman siblings, just finished playing midget hockey and went to boot camp this past February.  Alan also played in prior years for Concord High.  Chris, the second to youngest, played many years for the Concord Capitals.  And Jeff, Sr. - or as many this past year called him "Coach Bauman" . . .  Yes, he was the head coach for our Concord Hockey winter midget team during my recent medical recuperation - stepping up to help us out.  In speaking with Dave Tilllotson, the CYHA President, he felt the Concord Hockey community now needs to help out the Bauman's.

Jeff and Csilla Bauman are traveling daily to Boston, from their Concord home, to be with Jeff, Jr.  They see his hurt, see his upcoming challenges, and as every parent would do - prepare for what's to come with Jeff's unexpected disabilities:  The physical therapy, reconstructive surgeries, special home care, and just the life altering changes that this type of injury creates.  The costs for this, to include loss of family income, will be exorbitant.  Just commuting to Boston on a daily basis can create a hardship when you are not prepared for it.  Concord Youth Hockey wants to help.

"ALAN BAUMAN CAPTAINS THE STATE CHAMPION CONCORD SPLIT MIDGETS - November, 2012"

We have created a "Jeff Bauman Jr. & Family Fundraiser."  Funds donated to this will go to the Bauman family to assist in covering these new expenses.  A portion will also go towards what was quoted in the NY Times article:  "He plans to pay off his student loans and go back to school at the University of Massachusetts Lowell."  We (CYHA) have set our website to accept direct donations through our PayPal account.  Go to www.ConcordYouthHockey.org - click on the button to the left labeled "Jeff Bauman, Jr. & Family Fundraiser," under the "Welcome" button, and follow the links to make your donation.  You can donate using your credit or debit card.  If you don't have a PayPal account, not a problem.  Just follow that link.

We have over 400 families with Concord Youth Hockey now.  We have more than triple that graduated from our program.  As one of our past President's, Steve Guercia, stated to me, "way to take care of the 'kids' . . ."  It's what we do!  A member of the Concord Hockey family needs a hand - we ask for your help because - It's what we do!  Thank you in advance for your generous donation!
