Deputy UIC & DASA Player Rep Step Down
April 6, 2013
DASA Deputy UIC and COA umpire Ross Thomas has announced his resignation as a DUIC and retirement from umpiring, in general.
Ross is an outstanding softball umpire working the highest levels of slowpitch available in the USA. Ross is also a Hall of Fame wrestling referee, also working all levels of that sport available to an official in the USA
His knowledge, sportsmanship and camaraderie will be missed by the Delaware softball community
Also, DASA Player Rep, Irwin Hanby has resigned his position with DASA. "Cookie" was responsible for and proved to be an outstanding classification director for ASA in the state of Delaware over the past four year. Irwin continues to participate in NCC leagues and traveling Senior Ball programs.
Irwin should be commended for his outstanding work in speaking on the behalf of the players in Delaware.

Guidelines to Lightning Safety
All individuals participating in or observing an outdoor softball event are responsible for their own safety and should monitor threatening weather conditions. Before each practice, warm-up time, or game, the home plate umpire should appoint an individual as the designated “weather watcher.” If the home plate umpire is the only official at the event, then the home plate umpire should be responsible for the duties of the “weather watcher.” The individual will make the call to stop play, remove individuals from the field, and announce a warning to the spectators.
