Durham West Lightning Novice Girls Hockey Team

Welcome to the official website of the Durham West Lightning Novice Girls Hockey Team.
The team currently consists of girls born in 2001/2002. The Lightning will compete in the Lower Lakes Female Hockey League, as well as various tournaments throughout Ontario.
We ask that you visit this site on a regular basis so that you can keep informed and updated with the many, many activities that the team has planned.

Guelph Finalists

Congratulations to the Lightning on their second straight tournament final. The Lightning were crowned Silver Medalists of the 2010 Guelph Girls Hockey Tournament.
The Lightning started the tournament with a very 3-1 victory over the Oakville Sting. Goals were scored by Claire, McKenzie and Makenna. Congratulations to Makenna who scored her first goal of the year on one of her trademark rushes.
The girls then faced the home team in their second game were unlucky not to score. The girls dominated play, but could not beat the Guelph goalie.
Saturdays game saw the Lightning taking on a very tough Kitchener side. The Lady Rangers took the early lead with a goal 30 seconds in. Despite dominating play, the Lightning found themselves two goals down in the second, when a Kitchener play pounced on a rebound.
Sydney scored late in the game to make it a 2-1 final.
The Lightning were given a second chance at the Rangers as they finished in the top 2 of group play.
Once again the Lightning were able to compete with the Rangers, but could not score. The Lady Rangers scored at the 5 minute mark and that turned out to be enough. The Lightning could not solve the Kitchener goalie and were crowned Silver Medalists.
