We are Gateway Hockey - A Great Tradition
Established in 1972, Gateway Hockey has a proud tradition of promoting athletic and academic excellence. The club provides Gateway School District students in grades 6 thru 12 with the opportunity to play ice hockey at the AAA level of competition, and has enjoyed tremendous success building the character, skills, and winning attitude of its players. Without question, the Club's goal and expectation is to win at every level of play, whether Freshman, Junior Varsity, or Varsity, but the true strength of this program is that winning is always judged by more than the score on the board.
Gateway Hockey Alumni Honor Roll - 2009 Inductees
The Gateway Hockey alumni announce the 2009 induction class for the Gateway Hockey Honor Roll. The inductee class is Sean Biancaniello a forward and 2001 graduate; Steve Festa, defenseman, 1985; Matt Krusey forward, 2001; Jim Matthews, defenseman, 2001; and Matt Sargo, forward, 2000.
The Gateway Hockey Honor Roll recognizes alumni who have distinguished themselves as members of Gateway Hockey and who have added to the legacy of the hockey program at Gateway through their performance, leadership, commitment and service.
The inductees join last year's honorees: John LiPrando (1977), Mike Sargo (1996), Robert Wareham (1978), Brian Cooley (1995) and Joe Friday (1990).
This year's induction ceremony will be held @ 8:00pm on Dec. 26th at Papa Rocks Restaurant in the Haymaker Plaza in Monroeville. The skills competition and alumni game will be on Dec 27 @ 3:30pm at Center Ice in Delmont.

Night at the Races - MANDATORY FUNDRAISER
December 5, 2009 - 07:00 PM
A new and fun event has been planned as the flagship of our fundraising efforts. A Night at the Races will be held on Dec 5th @ 7:00pm at Monroeville Fire Hall #4, and will require the involevement of all families in the program. This is a mandatory fundraiser that has produced excellent results for other Monroeville organizations in the past. PLEASE make every effort to contribute your time, effort and talents to make this event a success! Make sure you sell your allotment of tickets, horses and jockeys as soon as possible! Also watch for emails regarding this event leading up to race night.
Just in case anyone is unclear, when selling the tickets. The yellow tickets are the admission tickets. They are $10.00 each which includes food , beer, and wine. Please sell these to the people you know will come and support the teams. Each family must also sell 2 horses and 3 jockeys. There is a form in your envelope. This works well for those who would like to support the hockey club, but cannot attend. Both horses and jockeys are $10.00 each. The buyer must name the horse or jockey that you sell to them and provide you with name and address on the form. If they are not present, but their horse or their jockey wins a race, we will send them $25.00. Gateway Hockey Sponsor Book Ad Campaign
The Gateway Hockey Sponsor Book is a win/win for our organization as well as our sponsors that gain exposure through their advertising. This is an optional fund raiser that can help reduce your out of pocket expenses for the coming season's player fees. To participate, you will need to solicit local businesses to advertise in our sponsor book that will be published at or around the start of the season and distributed thereafter. For each sponsor that you enlist, you will receive 60% profit from the amount they purchase (ie. - A $100.00 ad would credit your hockey bill $60.00). Check the list of protected ads before approaching businesses. For those of you that are new to Gateway Hockey Club, the businesses listed are the only ones that you cannot go after for a sponsorship, unless your name is listed there. I am also attaching the letter and form for the business to complete and return to you with a business card and a check made payable to Gateway Hockey Club. A deadline for ad submissions has not yet been established, but is anticipated to be in the September timeframe, so go ahead and get started right away. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Roseann Perhac or Ramona Vaughn concerning the ad book.

NEW TIMES - Gateway Hockey Practices for All Teams in November & December
November & December ice practice days and times for all Gateway teams have been updated and posted beginning November 1st. Please refer to the Calendar or Schedule posted herein for the latest information. You may also scroll down to the bottom of this web page to see the upcoming games, practices and events.
Developmental - Learn to Play Hockey with the Gateway Gators!
The current session began on Sunday, September 27th, with ice time every Sunday through November from 4:20pm - 5:20pm.
Please check the site regularly to find out when the next 10 week session will begin!
Great Coaching - Our coaching staff is all USA Hockey certified from Intermediate through Master Level as well as some of Gateway Hockey Club’s Junior Varsity and Varsity players.
Hockey is Affordable - The cost for each session is very reasonable for a 10 week session.
Levels of Play - Gateway fields teams starting at the Developmental level, Freshman, JV, and Varsity levels, which covers grades 1 through 12.
Cost Per Player: $150.00 Total Due With Registration
Equipment Needed
1. Helmet with face mask
2. Elbow pads
3. Shin pads
4. Hockey skates (skates can be rented at rink)
5. Hockey stick
• Optional Equipment includes neck guard, mouth guard, shoulder/chest pad, hockey gloves, hockey pants, athletic protector, hockey socks.
