The Greater Charlotte Youth Athletic Alliance (GCYAA)is a member of American Youth Football(AYF). The AYF is the largest youth football and cheerleading program in the nation. The AYF provides teams the opportunity to play at the regional and national level, with 8 national divisions and NFL sponsorship. Now that the GCYAA is part of the AYF, the top teams in all divisions (except little prep and flag) will have the opportunity to advance to the Regional Tournament, which consists of teams from Maryland, Virginia, North and South Carolina. With success at regionals, there is the opportunity to advance to the National Tournament in Orlando Florida, as one of the teams in the GCYAA accomplished in 2007 and 2008. The GCYAA is the home of the 2007 AND 2008 AYF National Champions Mint Hill Mountaineers/Chargers.
The GCYAA/AYF is a group of independent organizations with the intent to provide the highest quality youth football league, as well as provide low cost programming for the communities we serve. Each organization represented came to the conclusion that to be part of something special we could of all be proud of we needed to build it ourselves. The GCYAA is the result of our collective efforts. GCYAA is of the belief that anything built for the children should be solely for the benefit of the children we serve, and to support the individual organizations that devote their time and effort to assure our children are respected, educated, and nurtured, while in the safest environment possible. Each organization is represented on our board and will be afforded a vote on all association decisions. No “ONE” organization is more important or more valuable than the “WHOLE”, and this will reflect in how our children are served. Each organization is unique in its own way, and all provide quality athletics, with qualified coaches dedicated to enhancing the lives of children. Each organization is a separate entity and functions as such, including but not limited to structuring, programming, philosophy, and coaching styles. Ultimately, every organizations' goal appears to come to the same conclusion "The children and their families are our number ONE priority".
