The 41st Annual GGSA Opening Day Deemed A Success
The 41st Annual GGSA Opening Day is in the books and the day and the start of a new season has been deemed a huge success. Last year over 550 young ladies took part in GGSA leagues and nearly 800 games were played at the Stebbins Field facility located on State Route 49 in Greenville and 2013 looks to be another big year for the local non-profit
This year GGSA has a total of 35 teams taking part in its summer program which consists of girls ages 4-19 years of age. The organization offers slow pitch softball to all Darke County girls and fast pitch to all Greenville Girls and also girls who are not currently offered to play in the Cross County Fast Pitch League. This year there are 28 slow pitch teams and 7 fast pitch teams.
GGSA also offers an instructional Fall Fast Pitch League during the month of September for girls ages 10 and under, 12U, and 14U. Last year over 200 girls from around the region took part in the growing fall league.
Opening Day was full of festivities, a full slate of softball games, and the annual GGSA Opening Day Ceremony.
The organization would like to thank all that helped make for a great day at Stebbins Field including, Pastor Gary Cloyd of Castine Church of the Brethren who opened the day with prayer, American Legion Post 140 who presented the colors as local talent Joelle York sang The Star Spangled Banner.
A special thank you goes out to Kris Garrison, Sam Stebbins, Lowe's Home Improvement, Keith "Slick" Schlecty, Hupman Lawn Care and Snow Removal, and The Hartnagle Family. All have made an impact by donating time and/or monetary donations toward the new season.
During the Opening Ceremony, GGSA league officials recognized the opening of the New Lady Wave Stadium at Stebbins Field. Many local area business' and individuals have pulled together, led by Varsity Lady Wave Softball coach Jarrod Newland, to make a dream become reality.
The New Lady Wave Stadium is a great addition to Stebbins Field and The Greenville Girls Softball Association, the entire softball community, the City of Greenville, and Darke County.
The Stebbins Field complex with four great fields, concession stand and restroom facilities, and now with the addition of Lady Wave Stadium, Stebbins Field has become one of the premier non-profit softball-only complexes in the State of Ohio. It is something everyone can and should take pride in.

GREENVILLE GIRLS SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION, INC.

Welcome to the GGSA Official web site! Here you will find all sorts of helpful information about our youth softball program here in Greenville, Ohio. GGSA is a Non-Profit organization that was founded in 1972. We are dedicated to providing recreational softball activities for over 500 girls in Greenville and the surrounding areas. GGSA offers all Darke County girls Slow-Pitch & Fast-Pitch softball for girls ages of 4 to 19. In 2001 we moved into our new softball complex "Stebbins Field" located just north of Greenville, Ohio, on State route 49 N. This facility is privatly owned by GGSA and was made possible through generous donations of individuals and business', and the annual fundraising efforts of our players and their families. It is thru this type of support and selfless dedication that Stebbins Field was built and contiues to thrive today. In 2008 construction began on a new permanent concession stand and restroom facility at the Stebbins Field complex. The more than 4,000 square foot building will provide the girls of Greenville and Darke County a facility to operate out of for generations to come. In 2009 the 4 acre field extending directly south from the new concession stand was purchased with plans for future expansion with the possibility of two diamonds being built on the new land. The two additonal diamonds would open up the possibility to bigger tournaments and less scheduling issues for future GGSA and other community and organizational groups that regularly use the diamonds in support of GGSA. In 2012 a major refurbishing of all four diamonds, including sod placed in all foul territories, warm-up circle cutouts, coaches box cutouts, fields leveled, and new material, Southern Red Rock, added to all four diamonds.
NEW IN 2013.... The addition of the New Lady Wave Stadium at Stebbins Field. The Lady Wave Softball program, head coach Jarrod Newland, and the many supporters of softball in Greenville have come together once again, this time to build a stadium style facility at Stebbins Field, the home of the Greenville Girls Softball Association & The Greenville High School Lady Wave Softball team. The new project includes completely refurbishing diamond #3 and adding brick dugouts, a brick back stop with netting, press box, locker room, bullpen, and stadium style seating which will seat nearly 350 people just within the bleacher area behind home plate. The project is a great addition to Stebbins Field, the City of Greenville, Darke County, and the softball community as a whole.
GGSA "GOAL"

Our purpose is to provide an enjoyable, healthy, recreational activity for every girl in Darke County that will foster and promote softball competition among young girls. While developing the girl's athletic ability, the girls will learn the proper fundamentals of softball, the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, and that winning is important, but learning to handle defeat is equally as important and builds self-confidence and reveals character.
Our programs are designed to promote the physical, mental, and spiritual well being of girls by teaching them the importance of teamwork, developing respect for others, and the application of the Golden Rule in human relationships. While the attainment of athletic skills and sportsmanship are encouraged, the real goal is to install values that will contribute to the future development of young women in the program.
All Darke County Girls Welcome

The Greenville Girls Softball Association continues to offer Slow-Pitch and Fast Pitch Softball to all Darke County Girls! Our organization is going strong and growing with over 500 girls participating throughout the summer and fall. Slow Pitch is offered to all girls ages 4-19 years old. Leagues include Tee Ball, Munchkin, Minor, Junior, and Senior leagues. Fast Pitch is offered to all Greenville girls and also girls outside the Greenville School District who are not offered to play in the Cross County Fast Pitch League that Greenville is currently a part of. Fast Pitch is offered to girls in grades, 3rd & 4th, 5th & 6th, and 7th & 8th grade. The Fast Pitch League is a traveling fast pitch league. Girls may play both Slow Pitch and Fast Pitch and are required to only pay once OR participate in our annual fundraiser and meet the fundraiser goals. GGSA also offers a Fall Fast Pitch League for girls ages 10 and under, 12U, and 14U years of age. The league has grown substantially in a short period of time and has become a regional event with girls coming from Darke, Preble, Mercer, Van Wert, and Montgomery counties in Ohio, and Randolph county in Indiana. Over 200 girls or 20 teams participated in the league in 2012!! Please contact any officer with any questions concerning our leagues and tournaments. We look forward to having another great season in 2013!!! See you at the ballpark!
