THE PANTHER PRIDE CLUB WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL IT'S SUPPORTERS AND ALL OF THE PANTHER FANS THAT CONTINUED TO SUPPORT THE PANTHERS THROUGH THIS ROUGH SEASON. LET ME SHARE A FEW THINGS WITH YOU. WE WERE A YOUNG TEAM THIS YEAR. ALOT OF UNDER CLASSMAN WERE HAVING TO STEP UP AND PLAY VARSITY BALL DUE TO SICKNESS AND INJURIES. AS THE YEAR WENT ON THESE KIDS GOT BETTER EACH WEEK. GOING BACK THROUGH THE RECORDS IN 1946 THE PANTHERS WENT 5-5. IN 1947 THE PANTHERS WENT UNDEFEATED 12-0 AND WON THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. IN 1975 THE PANTHERS WENT 4-5. IN 1976 THE PANTHERS WENT 12-0 AND WON THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. IN 1986 THE PANTHERS WENT 3-7. IN 1987 THE PANTHERS WENT 14-0 AND WON THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AGAIN. NEXT YEAR MAY JUST BE OUR YEAR. THIS YEAR IS OVER IT IS TIME FOR THE COACHES TO START BUILDING FOR NEXT YEAR. WE WILL HAVE ALOT OF RETURNING PLAYERS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL NEXT YEAR AND THE FUTURE LOOKS GOOD FOR GOULA IN MY EYES. KEEP SUPPORTING THE PANTHERS AND I PROMISE YOU WILL SEE THE TEAM RISE UP AGAIN. YOUR SUPPORT IN THE STANDS ON FRIDAY NIGHT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT SUPPORT YOU CAN GIVE TO A GROUP OF YOUNG KIDS.

A LITTLE PANTHER GRIDIRON HISTORY

December 2, 1967 - Pascagoula caps a 8-3-1 season with a resounding 28-9 win over Vicksburg Cooper High Greenies in the Pecan Bowl Classic at War Memorial Stadium. The game sponsored by the Pascagoula Knights of Columbus resumed after twenty years of non-existence.

Heavy thunderstorms and tornado warnings that afternoon threatened the playing of the game but the passage of the cold front brought frigid temperatures and gusty winds to the stadium. The win also closed the first season in the newly constructed home side of WMS.

One Panther fan, seven year old Walter Thornton said "Darn it's cold!"
