About HASL
As a non-profit organization with international membership in the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance (NAGAAA) and the Amateur Softball Alliance of North America (ASANA), HASL is dedicated to the promotion of amateur softball for all adult persons regardless of age, race, creed, religion, sex, or national origin, with special emphasis on the participation of members of the gay community.
The Open Division welcomes Male/Female/Transgendered players of varying skill levels. It is divided into four distinct divisions (A-D) based on a rating system with Division-A being most competitive (all teams rated 171-270) and Division-D being least competitive (teams rated 0-100 with no individual player rating over 10).
The Women's Division is also separated into four subdivisions based on team skill level: A-Competitive, B-Alternative, C-Rec and D-Rec.
Membership fees are $45 annually payable to HASL before taking the field for the first game. Membership is active from the time dues are paid until the following season. HASL is a slow-pitch softball league and play is governed by Amateur Softball Association (ASA) Rules. All members must be 18 years of age or older and are required to sign an injury release waiver prior to participation. The winning team from each level of the Open and Women's division automatically qualify to participate in the NAGAAA World Series tournament.
