The HSE 9U Cats went undefeated this week winning the Edgewood Invitational. It took heart and determination to pull out the win in the championship game. After being down 4-1 with the bases loaded in the 4th inning, Nick Broviak came in to pitch in relief with 1 out and threw 1 pitch for a 1 to 2 to 3 double play. That was the spark that then ignited a 4 run rally. The Cats never looked back from there. It took great defense to win. Collin Miller threw out a runner heading to second base in the first inning. In the top of the sixth there were two key defensive plays. With a runner on first, Drew Simone made a diving stop on a hard hit ball down third to get the force out at second. Nate Estabrook fielded a one hopper in deep right field and threw the runner out at first to win the game. The CATS look to continue the championship streak this week at the Mid-West Championships.
