Pirate Baseball
The Geist Pirates came to life in the fall of 2002 when two boys playing at the local Little League wanted to become better Baseball players. These boys along with the next few players to join them had one goal to possibly play High School Baseball one day. To do this they needed more instruction then they were receiving at that time to achieve their dream.
Out of this came a mission statement:
To continually develop quality playing skills as individuals and a team while keeping sportsmanship and competition in proper perspective with all players, coaches and parents and to serve the community in which we play.
The goal:
Develop players to make competitive High School teams.
On July 18th 2009 Pirate Baseball played their last game. This was the end of a seven year run in the world of travel Baseball that looked something like this:
* Seven Years of Travel Baseball played
* 300 games played
* An overall record of 163 wins and 137 losses
* 38 Different Pirate players
* Two players appeared in every season
* 32 High School Baseball Players
* Nearly 20,000 hits on our web site
* USSSA State Championship in 2007
* USSSA State runner up in 2005
* Hoosier Select League Championship
* Four different Tournament Championship’s
* Played Baseball in four States
* Nationally ranked for two years
Over the last seven years The Pirates were recruited from outside of our organization and from inside of our organization. There were many great moments and several low ones. There were many friends made and families that became part of my extended family. I will look back on this time with only great memories and would recommend this endeavor to be taken on by anyone.
But most of all I wish the best success to anyone that has ever put on a Pirate uniform you are and always will be family.
Best Wishes
Mark Pressley
