11u Mudcats nip MLI Gray 6-5 on a rainy night at BBH

The LI MudCats nipped the MLI Gray Phantoms 6-5 in 5 Innings in rainy conditions at Baseball Heaven.
After surviving a 1st inning jam Ryan pitched 3 solid innings. Aaron relieved him and completed the game to bring us back to .500 baseball for the Spring BBH season and giving the Phantoms there first loss of the spring league.
The game went back and forth with each team finding a key hit at the right time. John had a big double that tied the game after MLI had gone up by one in the top of the 3rd inning. Peter had a smooth defensive play in center and got the ball in quickly to keep the damage to one run scored for MLI Gray in the 4th inning. James and Chris combined for some nice defensive work in the infield. Kudos to Kyle for catching a great game and keeping the ball in front of him under terribly wet conditions.
It was a Great TEAM effort by the 11u MudCats.
11u Mudcats loss 3-2 in extra Innings

The Long Island MudCats lost 3-2 in extra innings last night in a hard fought contest.
After going down by 2-0 in the 1st Inning the MudCats battled back to tie it in the top half of the 6th Inning. However, the Saints managed to win on a two out single to right field in the 8th Inning.
Chris pitched an awesome game only allowing 2 runs over 6 innings of work. Aaron came in relief and 2 strong innings. The MudCat boys had ample opps to go ahead but just couldnt push a few extra runs across.
The team overall played well and sometimes even when you play good the ball doesn't bounce your way. A few timely hits and we could have easily broke this game open. That is just the way it goes sometimes, and we just need to keep playing hard.
LI MudCats win Baseball Heaven "Spring Challenge"
LI MudCats 11u went 5-0 enroute to winning the Baseball Heaven 2009 Spring Challenge Tournament. They defeated the Orange County Bombers 4-2 in a well played baseball game. It was the second time on the same day that the LI MudCats defeated the Bombers in a closely played contest. Earlier in the day the MudCats were able to nip the Bombers 6-5 in an 8 inning battle.
The MudCats were led by timely hitting from Joe Miller and John Montesano. The defense stepped up and made the plays necessary to win a championship. Pitching was key for the mudCats who were led by Aaron Fox, Peter Ferchland,Chris Sperruzzi, Steven Farrell, Ryan Linarello, James Whitman, and Joe Miller who pitched a complete Championship game.
The boys played strong all weekend and were justly rewarded with a Baseball Heaven Tournament win.
