Playoff Baseball Returns to Irving MacArthur
The Cardinals baseball team participated in the Texas State High School 5-A Baseball Tournament for the first time in over 20 years the first weekend in May. The Cardinals have drew a tough opening opponent in the Arlington Martin Warriors in the Bi-District round. Game 1 was a very close game with the Cardinals leading 2-1 in the 5th inning when Martin scored 6 runs to take a commanding 7-2 lead. The Cardinals fought back and closed it to 7-4 and had the bases loaded in the bottom of the 7th but could not get the big hit. Game 2 was also a close game through the first 4 innings until Martin blew it open with a 9 run inning and went on to win 10-0.
Congradulations to the Cardinals for a good year and many hopes for a great 2009 baseball season!
