Devils Get Eaten By The Lady Wolves

February 22, 2012
The Devils were at home last night after a busy couple of weeks and hosted the fresh Sudbury Lady Wolves, and were mauled by the Wolves 5-0. The Devils schedule caught up to them and the Lady Wolves made them pay for every mistake they made as they outshot the Devils in every period and scored in every period on their way to the well-played win against the Devils. The boys just couldn't seem to get anything going as they only managed 12 shots on net and failed to score on any of them. Hats off to the Wolves, who played a hard game and a deserved win.
Think Comittment and Sacrifice Boys!!

Devils Shoot Down The Hawks On The Road

February 19, 2012
The Devils made another short trip across town to the Centennial Arena to play their 8th game in the last 7 days, taking on the home team Nickel City Hawks, and again were victorious 6-2. The Devils were firing on all cylinders, as they came out in the first and scored 4 goals to take a commanding lead 4-0. Scoring for the Devils in the first was Justin K, Preston L, who both scored short-handed, Matt F, and Matt D, with assists to Kailer H, Tyler P, Matt F, Stavros G, Laine M, and Matt D. In the second, the teams seemed to even up as they both scored one to make the score 5-1 after two. Scoring for the Devils was Stavros G, with another short-handed goal, on a nice feed from Matt F. The third was all Devils as they opened the firing range with 21 shots, but only managed one goal in the process. Scoring was Kiel C, with assists to Preston L and Laine M.
An overall good team effort Devils!!

Devils Soar Past The Flyers

February 18, 2012
The Devils travelled a short distance across town to tangle with their city-rivals Nickel City Flyers, and came away with a 6-0 shutout victory. Both teams started fast and hard, as the Flyers outshot the Devils in the first, but went into the second down 2-0. Scoring for the Devils was Preston L and Alex B with assists to Tyler P and Kyle B. The second was owned by the Devils as they turned the tables and outshot the Flyers and scored 4 more goals to lead 6-0 after two periods. Scoring in the second for the Devils was Alex B with two goals, Kailer H, and Preston L with his second of the game. Assists went to Cameron G, Kailer H, Kyle B, Jordan S, and Matt D. Outduelling the Flyer's goalie and earning the shutout was Justin R, who turned away all 21 shots.
A great team effort boys!! Way to Go!!

Devils Tie League-Leading Thunderchiefs

February 14, 2012
With little time to lick their wounds from their exit at the Rocks Tourney, the Devils were on the road, this time to face the league-leading Blind River Thunderchiefs. The Devils, who had lost to the Thunderchiefs on the weekend were looking to exact some revenge as they travelled to Blind River. Both teams were ready as the game went on, and the home team struck first scoring late in the period to lead 1-0. The second period saw the Devils manage only 2 shots on goal, but one found the mark as Jordan S scored with an assist to Cameron G to tie the game at 1-1. The third was a battle, as Devils goalie Justin R played perfectly and was able to hold the game to a 1-1 tie in the end.
Good effort Devils!! Keep it Going!!

Nickel City Rocks Tournament

February 13, 2012
The Devils competed in the First Annual Nickel City Rocks Tournament this past weekend, but were sent packing losing in the Quarter-Finals. The first game of the tourney saw the Devils face off against the East Nipissing Vipers, who handed the Devils a 3-2 loss. Scoring for the Devils was Matt D with two goals, and assists going to Stavros G and Cameron G. Game 2 had the Devils facing their league rivals, Blind River Thunderchiefs, but again losing in a hard fought penalty-filled contest 2-0. Game 3 had the boys playing a team from the Timmins, Mikey's North Stars, and saw the Devils earn their first win of the tourney with a convincing 5-2 win. The Devils opened the period with three goals to the Star's one and led 3-1 after one. Scoring for the Devils was Jordan S and Matt D with two goals, with assists to Alex B, Blake B, Cameron G, and Preston L. The Decils lost ground in the second allowing a goal and finishing the period still leading 3-2. The third was all Devils as they scored two more and cemented the victory 5-2. Scoring in the third was Kiel C and Preston L, with the assists to Kyle B, Kailer H, and Preston L. Despite two losses, the Devils gained a berth in the quarter-finals against the Kapuskasing Angels, but were denied with a 3-2 loss in OT, finishing their weekend. The game was deadlocked after the first period 1-1, as Preston L scored on an unassisted, shorthanded effort to tie the game after one. The second saw the Devils take the lead with a goal from Matt D, and the assist to Preston L, to end the second up 2-1. The third had the Devils on their heels, as the Angels outshot the Devils and manged to score with 45 seconds remaining to put the game into OT. The Angels were ready and before the crowd could blink, the Angels scored to end the game and the weekend for the Devils.
A great effort was given by all the Devils and and anjoyable weekend for the fans. Congrats Devils!!
