History
The New York State Lions was established in 2007 by Shanon W. Richardson after he was unsatisfied with the direction of the Semi-pro football team he co-owned. He wanted to form a team that players as well as coaches and owners were proud to be a part of. Also he wanted the organization to provide multiple outlets of opportunity for everyone that is involved. With this vision, New York State Lions were founded.
Mission
The goal of the NYS Lions is to provide athletes with the opportunity to showcase their talents and earn an opportunity to play at the next level -whether that is college or professionally. Athletes are not compensated and therefore retain their college eligibility. Entrepreneurs, Small business owners, & Corporations will be able to expand their opportunities for capital by tapping into our revolving market. Not only is the NYS Lions a great Organization for players to refine their skills for the next level, but also a means for football enthusiasts to continue to participate in full contact football after their high school, college or pro career has come to a close.
Letter from the President
I believe that the people from our respective communities have become imprisoned mentally and defeated by the comfort of failing, other people expectations & limitations, ýand for whatever reason we fail at accomplishing or even pursing our dreams. In some cases, we even belong to communities who structure for profit is based on its people failures. The time for us to change our way of thinking and take control of our communities, children, education, finances, and future starts today! We will refuse to depend on everyone else to do what we should be doing. We will police our own communities, provide our children with opportunities for growth and development, make sound business decisions, and invest in our own communities.
While Starting with Semi pro football I hope to do away with yesterday’s way of thinking ýand pressing towards a different today by providing our young men with opportunities for: alternative lifestyles, life choices, different outlook on life & responsibilities, opportunities for advancement, & personal growth.
Since our children are visual learners I hope to instill in them that life is worth fighting for! That they will purse their dreams and overcome life’s obstacles, and become successful in life. To equip our children to know that even if they don’t have an multitude of people behind you, you can accomplish your goals on your own. Believe in yourself first!
The New York Lions application was accepted to join the United States Football Alliance. The USFA is considered the best pro football league due to its professionalism and competition. Teams from the USFA have earned the right to play in the National Championship the last two years. The Lions are ready to prove themselves during the 2008!
