PHS FALCONS BOYS JV & VARSITY WELCOME PARENT/PLAYER MEETING AUGUST 30th, 2012
Congratulations and Welcome to the PHS Falcons Boys JV & Varsity Soccer 2012 Season!
Please mark your calendars for Thursday, August 30th at 6pm for the PHS Falcons Parent/Player Meeting. The Gagliardi's have graciously offered their home and pool to host. We will be providing hoagies, chips and drinks; all are invited to bring your bathing suits to enjoy the pool.
It is important that each family be represented at this meeting. Our agenda will include this season's activities, dues, fundraising, volunteer opportunities, budget, St. Louis information (Gateway City Classic Sept 27-29), information printouts, etc. Please bring your checkbooks for dues (*approx 100 for dues and 100 for gear) and calendars to fill with important dates. There will be many opportunities to support our team this season and with each opportunity the chance to make some new sideline friends, so come ready to get involved!
Best of luck to the boys in their scrimmage tomorrow at Souderton vs. Souderton and Holy Ghost at 4pm and Friday at 2pm vs. West Chester at PHS.
See you on the sidelines and at Gagliardi's on Thursday, August 30th at 6pm!
Go Falcons!

ALL PLAYERS MUST ATTEND MANDATORY IMPACT TESTING AUGUST 9TH
MAKE-UP IMPACT TESTING
Kim and Sara will be back at Pennsbury HS for a make-up session for any athletes who missed the August 9th program. This will take place on Monday August 13 at 1:00 pm in the West library. This is the information session only, no Impact testing will take place at that time. Please make sure any students who missed today are in attendance. They will be allowed to participate in morning practices on Monday prior to viewing the program.

MANDATORY IMPACT TESTING
Mandatory Impact Testing August 9, 2012

PA has passed new legislation that will be effective July 1, 2012 requiring all student-athletes to receive concussion and head injury information prior to the start of their season. Additionally, most student-athletes will also be tested using Impact. This will be a baseline test to be used if the athlete sustains a head injury during the season. We have been using this test for the past two years and it will be expanded this year. We have partnered with St Mary's Hospital to provide a video presentation and help administer the Impact testing.

All prospective athletes and all coaches are required to report to Keller Hall on Thursday August 9 at 8:30 am. We anticipate roughly 300 athletes, so we are dividing the program into two sessions:

9:00 am - Session 1: ALL soccer, volleyball, golf, cheer, hockey, cross country, tennis (incoming grades 9 -12) will view the presentation in Keller Hall
ALL football (incoming grades 9- 12) will take the Impact test

10:30 am - Session 2: ALL soccer, volleyball, cheer, and JV/Var hockey will take the Impact test. NOTE: We are not testing Golf, Cross Country, Tennis, or 9th Grade hockey this year.
ALL football (incoming grades 9 -12) will view the presentation in Keller Hall

Coaches must be present with their teams for both the test and the presentation. Coaches will act as room proctors during the Impact testing. All coaches are also required by law to complete a head injury recognition test prior to beginning practice on August 13. We are planning a trade day for coaches to take the test during the summer.

No student may try out or begin practice without having been to this presentation. It is imperative that you inform your teams of this so they can schedule their time to be present on August 9. Anyone who is not present will be required to view a makeup session at a later date, but is not eligible to begin practice until this is done.
