WELCOME ABOARD
POBSC is very proud to announce that Phil Schools has been named Director of Player Development.
Phil has a long history in the Long Island soccer community and brings another level of soccer commitment to the Plainview Old Bethpage soccer community.
We believe with both Phil's background in education and soccer knowledge it is the perfect formula to help POBSC take the next step.
Phil's bio and training and soccer philosophy will be posted on this website under the heading "Phil Schools".
Again we want to congratulate him and wish him the very best while working with our children.
POB Middle School Lighted Fields
Just an FYI- due to all the hard work and cooperation of POB Board members, PAL Board members and The POB School District we were able to offer both soccer and football children the opportunity to practice and train on this wonderful field. Again the partnership between these organizations to benefit the children of POB had been a long time coming and is truly a becoming a great working relationship.
With that being said, the fields are open from 6 pm to 8 pm and are scheduled through both POBSC and PAL Football. These team workouts are for scheduled teams ONLY, the fields are not open to private training or unauthorized use.
Thank you for everyone's assistance in this matter.
ENYYSA Zero Tolerance Policy
United States Youth Soccer Association has adopted a “Zero Tolerance” policy. Therefore, effective September 1, 2009, in ALL YOUTH SOCCER MATCHES ENYYSA(which includes POBSC Intramural & LIJSL Travel Leagues) will be enforcing the following modified Zero Tolerance Policy.
The use of Foul and Profane language towards another person – opponent, teammate, coaches, referees, etc – will result in AUTOMATIC EJECTION [RED CARD].
The use of Foul and Profane language out of frustration will result in AUTOMATIC WARNING [YELLOW CARD] The above also affects ALL BENCH PERSONNEL.
All game officials are required to inform both players and coaches of this policy prior to the match.
POBSC Is Going Small-Sided
POBSC is very excited to announce that the start of the 2009 Fall Season our Intramural Program will be going "small-sided".
From our Pee-Wee Divisions through our U8 Boys & Girls Divisions, with the help of our training organizations we have implemented the latest and most up to date training methods and game play instruction for all of our children.
Working closely with all of our own in-house training organizations, other soccer clubs and organizations both in New York and around the country, POBSC is the latest soccer club to join the "small-sided" soccer movement.
From the Player's viewpoint.... * Lots of action
* Usually much higher scoring than "traditional soccer"
* Simple, straight forward game based on 2 and 3 man combination's.
* No off-sides
* Can play 3 v 3 friendlies without adult intervention
From the Coaches viewpoint * Good skills practice
* Lots of touches of the ball, more touches develops better skills
* Develops quickness both of mind and body
* No place to hide... a player on the field is actively defending or attacking at all times
* No Off-sides
* Players develop tactical awareness and become skilled in 2 and 3 man combination's
* Constant marking practice
* Easy to organize teams and matches
* Roster from full sided team can form four 3 v 3 teams for practice matches
* Team can practice on smaller field. More places to practice/play
From the Parents point of view * No Off-sides
* No Slide tackles
* Smaller field for better view of entire match
