SEBL continues affiliation with Southern Roundball Classic for 2009...
July 28, 2009 Southeastern Exposure Basketball League (SEBL) AllStar Team to Participate in the 7th Annual Southern Classic Roundball Invitational

Marietta, GA- July 27, 2009- The Southern Classic Roundball Invitational is pleased to announce its continued partnership with the Southeastern Exposure Basketball League (SEBL). This year the SEBL will be entering an AllStar Basketball team, bringing their entire league to a halt as they support the Southern Classic weekend on August 14-16, 2009.

On July 11th, the Southeastern Exposure Basketball League (SEBL) celebrated its 20th season.

Ten years ago, the Eddie Lee Wilkins Pro-Am became the SEBL to expand the league to capitalize on the regional talent.

'We began to develop a real reputation for what we call a pro-am basketball league, which is providing an opportunity for players to stay in shape and work on their games during the summer. Any where from your better high school players all the way up to NBA players have participated in the league," said League Commissioner David Archer.

'We are able to provide our information game information, player profiles and things of that nature to industry Web sites all over the world. It provides a lot of exposure for players that participate,' Archer said. 'We have guys that play Division I, Division II college basketball, NAIA, guys that played professionally overseas.'

The league operates under Archer's 501 (c)3 non-profit organization, The Human Race Inc., along with his World Basketball Association team, the Cartersville-Baseline Warriors, which also competes in SEBL.

The league offers players not only the chance to hone their game and stay fit, but also provides a positive outing for youth to remained occupied during the languid summer months.

'The only reason its still going, to tell you the truth, is because of the passion of the people who are there,' Archer added. 'We draw players from all over. Guys will drive from Tennessee and Alabama, Atlanta and all over to come and play in Cartersville. But, the local participation is the staple of the program. It has become a corner stone of activiity that many young people look forward to every summer.'

The SEBL is divided into divisions based on talent and experience levels and has become so popular that a division was created for Atlanta a few years ago. The North Division plays its games at JH Morgan Gym on Aubrey Street in Cartersville, while the South Division plays at the Athletics & Fitness Center on the campus of Clayton State University in Morrow, GA. There have also been divisions in Oklahoma City, Atlanta, Rome (GA) and Macon (GA) at various points in time. 30 teams will compete in the SEBL this summer, in the Metro A-League Conference (men), City B-League Conference (men) and the WSEBL women's division.

'The thing that I enjoy the most is being able to see the benefits of something you work hard on, and seeing young people have an opportunity to reach goals that they have in their lives,' Archer said.

The SEBL has played at J.H. Morgan gym in Cartersville for its 20 seasons and Archer said the league wouldn't be the league without the facility provider's cooperation.

'If Philya Gray and the Housing Authority did not see the importance of what our programs provide for the community, we wouldn't even be able to do them at all,' Archer said.
