Ice Hawk Squirt Gold team - 2012 EOS State Champions!!!!
March 4, 2012 – 11:00 AM
Ice Hawk Parents,

It was the fitting end that we were all hoping for to the great hockey season that our boys had this year. Congratulations to our Ice Hawk Players, Coaches, and parents for completing this huge achivement! STATE CHAMPIONS!! It's got a great sound to it, especially to those of you that endured the winless seasons last year.. Enjoy it, it doesn't happen that often for a lot of hockey teams.....

We were led in goal by Graham Gunn, with Graham holding down our end very solid all night and only giving up one lucky bounce goal. 3-1 victory over the always tough St. Peters Spirit Club, great game Graham!!

Our defense was led last night by almost everyone, but a couple plays by Dylan Connolly stick out in my mind. Dylan sacrificed his own safety and took a full "superman dive" to save a break-away from scoring. Awesome game Dylan, your efforts helped us secure the State Championship Game!!

Other key contributors on defense last night were Grant Miner, Paul Malacarne, and Bryce Campo, those boys skated hard all night and helped a lot in the 3rd period to kill off the clock. Great hockey game boys!!

Our offense was led last night by Ryan Kruse, Ryan had a very nice goal that was elevated over the goalie, nice shot Ryan!! Ryan also had a couple more shots like this one, but the goalie made some great saves on him, great game last night Ryan!! Big effort when we needed it most!!

More offense was delivered by Justin Harper to power in a top-shelf goal to give us a more comfortable 2-0 lead. Great game last night Justin, awesome effort fighting for the puck all night long. Keep playing!!

Nick Mumford was on fire last night, as Nick played a very solid hockey game in his own way. Nick was on the ice diving for pucks, making passes, hitting pucks up the boards, Nick very nice effort last night!

Carson Bair, Brandon Mayfield, Niko Papachristou, and Christopher Johnston all contributed on defense as well. Carson Massie, Nathan Graham, Jake Smith, Henry Camp, all played very hard last night. This was by far our best team effort last night for the year, great timing boys!! GO HAWKS!!

Cheers!@! WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!

Parent game ends in Parent Team 8-5 victory!!
March 4, 2012 – 07:30 PM
Ice Hawk Parents,

It's that time of year, the season is now over, and what a blast we all had today in the parent / son game!! The "loaded" parent team beat the Ice Hawk Gold Team 8-5 today! Not sure where we got all this talent, but it was too much for the boys to handle, as the parent team jumped out to an early 3-0 lead to hold on for the victory. Great hockey was displayed by both sides with a few parents showing off their hockey prowess and some beginner skaters like myself. Fun, fun, fun!!!

Special thanks to the following people (families) for pulling this off for us this year: Kruse Family, Gunn Family, Connolly Family, and the Campo Family. We even had Rink A, WOW, what a great day of hockey!! Weekends like this will be remembered by our families forever. Thank you all for sharing such a great hockey season with our family this year!

The extra pads I borrowed from Scott Gunn really did the trick today, as my new $50 skates from PLAY IT AGAIN SPORTS, so no injuries to report this year:) Big improvement over last year, you laugh, but today was 100% better than I did last year. Bring on next year's game!

The parent team was led by Steve Connolly today with 2 goals, Craig Harper skated very fast today making a lot of plays for the parent team, WOW, that guy can skate! Not hard to see where Justin's hockey abilities come from. Dirk Massie had our 1st goal of the day, nice shot Dirk!! Steve, Craig, and Dirk all showed up to play hockey today!

Maury Kruse lifted a puck into the net for the parents, again, you can see where Ryan's hockey skills come from. Not too sure where Brandon's come from, oh yeah, it was $ in lessons... not from the old man!!

End of Season Hawks Banquet on Sunday, March 11th at 6:45 P.M. Please plan on attending the team party, and Hawks banquet. It was a very good hockey season for all of .our boys, so go show them you appreciate all the efforts they put in this year for all of us parents.

Cheers!@!

Ice Hawks beat Rockets 4-2 on Sunday, to punch ticket to Chesterfield Finals!
February 26, 2012 – 04:30 PM
Ice Hawk Parents,

It's official, our Ice Hawks beat the Rockets today 4-2 to punch our ticket to the End of Season Tournament Finals to be held in Chesterfield next weekend. Champions weekend, congratulations to all the players, coaches, and parents for this big achievement!!

We were led in goal once again by Graham Gunn, Graham snatched 13 saves today to lead our Ice Hawks to the Chesterfield Finals, great game Graham, way to push us into the finals!!

Our defense was led today by Grant Miner, Henry Camp, and Nathan Graham. All the boys played good defense today, my hats off to Justin Harper, Paul Malacarne, Brandon Mayfield, Carson Massie, Ryan Kruse, Dylan Connolly, Niko Papachristou, Carson Bair, Jake Smith, Bryce Campo, Christopher Johnston, and Nick Mumford. Congratulations on a hard fought win today, full speed ahead to Chesterfield boys!!

Our offense got going today with a goal in the 1st period by Nathan Graham, great shot Nathan!! This goal was assisted by Justin Harper, great teamwork Justin!!

Within 20 seconds of our 1st goal, Nick Mumford lit the lamp assisted by Jake Smith. Great teamwork boys, nice pass Jake!! Keep up the hustle Nick, great game today!!

Our offense continued in the 2nd period with Brandon Mayfield finishing off a "one-timer" on a perfect pass from Paul Malacarne. Great pass Paul, awesome hockey for a 9 and 10 year old. Nice work boys!! Also on the assist was Carson Bair, way to fight for the puck Carson!!

Within another minute of this goal, Jake Smith took one "coast to coast", nice shot Jake!!

That would be the end of the offense, both teams looked pretty gassed in the 3rd period. From the "Crows Nest", I was pleased to see our boys with more energy at the end than the Rockets team. We both have 16 players, so this was a good test for us to get ready for the finals!!

GO HAWKS, see everyone in Chesterfield next Saturday at 5:20 P.M.. Plan on being there no later than 4:15 P.M. to get the boys ready and for the coaches "chalk talk". Big game, get plenty of rest, GO HAWKS!!

Cheers!#!
