    CONGRATULATIONS

It is no secret to any of us, whether we played this team or not, if this well-oiled machine of a team could continue to play at an intense and amazing skill level, that they would 'storm' the competition at the tournament and walk away with a championship! Well, that is exactly what this team did! Club Storm, with its undefeated regular season play, brought to the tournament all their experience, skill and dreams of winning and won the 2009 FALLBALL Kickball Championship! Congrats to team Club Storm.

Congratulations to Got Balls? for having an equally impressive undefeated season, 14 - 0. Though marching fairly easily to get to the championship game, Got Balls? didn't have the same success when they faced Club Storm. Unable to answer the huge rally in the bottom of the 7th, Got Balls? came up one game shy of the championship. Congrats to team Got Balls?.

BallDozers, with a very impressive 10 - 3 - 1 regular season record, lost to Club Storm in a close semifinals game. With that loss, determined to walk away with a win and not another loss, they beat Shot to the Balls to take 3rd place in the tournament. Congrats to team BallDozers.

Though Shot to the Balls may be not have won the championship, they definitely made their presence known at the tournament. They had a challenging path to get to the final game and it took much out of them each game they played. They knocked off 2 better ranked teams, including the 3rd overall seeded team, before facing their first defeat by Got Balls? in the semifinals. After that tough loss, they couldn't find the 'shot' to pull out one last victory to claim 3rd place. Congrats to team Shot to the Balls for taking 4th place in the tournament.

There were 2 teams - Strugglers and Kicken Chickens - that, though didn't walk away with a trophy, should be proud of their amazing accomplishments. Strugglers, with an overall seeding of 34, won all their games (4) on Saturday and advanced to Sunday's bracket. They managed to win their first game on Sunday, by beating the 14 overall seeded team, even after one of their star players was escorted from the field due to a very serious injury. Exhausted and without their star pitcher, they played with passion and purpose but came up short in their next game against the 3rd overall seeded team. Congrats to team Strugglers for a fantastic effort and for securing the second most wins of the tournament - 5!

Kicken Chickens, with an overall seeding of 26, had an equally impressive run like the Strugglers. They began Saturday with 1 goal in mind, have fun! Okay, so 2 goals in mind, have fun and drink! Fine, so they wanted to WIN as well and that they did. They were the other team to win all their games (4) on Saturday and advance to Sunday's bracket. They continued to win on Sunday by advancing all the way to the quarterfinals, knocking out the 13th and 4th overall seeded teams. Exhausted, both mentally and physically, they were unable to keep their dream alive and fell to the BallDozers. Even with that loss, they go down in the books for winning the most games at the 2009 FALLBALL Kickball Tournament - a total of 6 games! Congrats to team Kicken Chickens for an unbelievable run towards the championship.
