Michigan took control of the Great Lakes North conference by winning 2 of 3 against Central Michigan. The Chips held a 1 game lead over the Wolverines going into the weekend, but the Wolverines captured the top spot with two huge victories. Nate Beck started the weekend with a domminating 9-inning complete game shut-out, scattering 4H, 6BB and 4K in the performance. Coach Jordan Milanowski also helped the Maize and Blue to a 7-3 victory with a 7-inning complete game win, striking out 7 while giving up 7H, 3BB, and 3ER.
The team was led offensively by Captain Jack Hellwig who went 5-11 with 2 Home Runs, 3RBI, 3R, and a BB. Brian Schweitzer also performed well at the plate with a 5-12 weekend with 2R, 2BB, 3SB, and an RBI. Matt Gutknecht added 2 Home Runs to the powerful wolverine offense.
