Hamilton College assistant coach Matt Leahy and Brewers 2009 assistant returns to manage in 2010.
Matt Leahy is in his second year as the Assistant coach for the Hamilton College baseball program. Leahy guided Max Foster '10 to a New England Small College Athletic Conference all-conference first team selection in 2009. Foster also tied the team record for strikeouts in a season under Leahy's tutelage. Last year, the pitching staff posted a lower ERA and opponent's batting average than it did in 2008.
Leahy has been actively involved with baseball for 23 years and has seen the game from numerous angles as a player, coach, manager and umpire. Leahy's most recent player experiences include the New York State League, the Arizona Winter League and the 2008 NABA World Series for the Kansas City Titans. In the summer of 2009, he managed a team in the New York State League. Leahy spent five seasons as a bullpen catcher for the Rochester Red Wings (Minnesota Twins AAA affiliate) and Syracuse Chiefs (Toronto Blue Jays AAA affiliate). Leahy is back for his 2nd season with the Brewers as last year as the assistant coach to Tim Byrnes.
Weimer hired as Brewers Pitching Coach
The Brewers are proud to announce that Andy Weimer (Utica College)Coach will be the pitching coach for the 2010 season. Since June of 2003 Weimer has spent time with five different professional organizations, including the Tampa Bay Devil Rays minor league system as well as the Cincinnati Reds farm team. The 6-foot-2 right handed reliever was drafted in 2003 out of Le Moyne College in the 15th round (428th overall selection) of the Major League Draft by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. After two seasons in the New York – Penn League, the sidearm pitcher signed with the New Haven County Cutters of the Can-Am League for the ’05 season. In 2006 he played just two games for the Dayton Dragons (Single A, Cincinnati Reds) of the Midwest League before returning to New Haven for the remainder of the next two seasons.
The Bridgeport Bluefish of the ALBS (Atlantic League Professional Baseball) signed Weimer after he began the 2008 season with the Nashua Pride of the Can-Am League. In his 20 appearances in 2008 he went 5-2 with a 4.91 ERA. His 2008 ERA for the Bluefish was just above four at 4.05, while opposing hitters batted .276 against him. In 2009 he has played in 11 games and posted a team best 1.29 ERA in 14.0 innings pitched. He has allowed 14 hits and just two earned runs en route to a 1-0 record on the mound.
At Division I Le Moyne College Weimer finished his career 20-7 with a 2.13 ERA with 22 saves in 85 career appearances. He went 7-1 with a 0.74 ERA and seven saves as a senior while the Dolphins won the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship and earned a trip to the NCAA tournament.
Tiffin University Utility Player signs with Brewers.
The Brewers finalized there roster for position players by signing Utility infielder 6"3 215lbs from Gahanna Ohio and Tiffin University Jordan Chiero. Jordan Played high school ball at New Albany high school where he was a three year letter winner. During his career at New Albany was a career .415 hitter, hitting .465 during his senior year. Jordan was elected team captain his senior year. He earned All Ohio Capital Conference honors his junior and senior year and All central district honors during his senior year. Committed to play for Tiffin University and played in 27 games had 66 abs hitting .260 with 2hrs and 12 rbi’s during his freshman season. The passed summer Jordan played in the Tri-State Collegiate League for the Ohio Bandits.
Brewers sign Tiffin University Catcher KC Weber.
The Brewers signed sophomore catcher and filled there final catchers roster spot with KC Weber. KC is 6'0 205lb catcher. KC is from Pataskala, Ohio and attended Watkins Memorial High School. Lettered all four years for the Warriors...was selected as the team captain during his junior and senior seasons...was named the team's Most Valuable Player as a senior...selected to the All-Ohio Capital Conference Capital Division squad during his junior and senior season...was named to the All-Central District Team as a senior...garnered a spot on the Mizuno All-Ohio squad during his senior season...holds the school record for career doubles...posted a .407 batting average with 24 RBI's and 33 runs scored during his senior season...helped the Warriors to Ohio Capital Conference Title during his sophomore and senior seasons...played for head coach Don Schone while at WMHS...also lettered in football and basketball...was twice selected to the All-OCC Second Team as a quarterback...holds the school record for passing touchdowns. Committed to Wright State University out of high school and played one season for them under head coach Rob Cooper where they won the Horizon League Championship and received a bid to the regional’s. Last summer he played for the Columbus Hawks under coach Tony Perz where they competed in the Tri-State Collegiate League. The brewers feel confident with the 3 quality catchers that have signed.

The Brewers are proud to announce that 3 ECBL All-Stars and League MVP will be returning to defend the Brewers ECBL Championship.
ED GEORGE JR MCLA ECBL League MVP and ECBL All-star Outfielder led the league with a .410 batting avg had 100 at bats scored 29 runs 41 hits 21 RBI's and set a league stolen base record stealing 34 bases.
ANDREW WALL Ithaca College lefty has verbally committed to play with the Brewers this summer; Andrew was an ECBL All-Star was 5-2 in 42 inn with an ERA of 1.98 Andrew also threw the ECBL first NO-HITTER against the Silversmiths in 2009.
MATT ROSSI 1B ECBL All-Star from Clarion University in Pittsburgh will be returning. Rossi, a Jr from Gateway High School, was second on the team and is 14th in the PSAC-West in average hitting .372 (55 of 148) with a team-high four home runs to go with 10 doubles and a triple. He also tied for the team lead in RBIs with 27 and his .534 slugging percentage was a team-best. In two seasons at Clarion, Rossi is hitting a robust .372 with nine career home runs and 54 RBIs.Rossi’s .372 was the ninth best since 1999 (his .371 last year is the 10th best in that span) and his .372 career average over the last two seasons is the best career mark at Clarion since 1999, while his .549 career slugging percentage and nine career home runs are both the second-best at Clarion during that span.
The brewers are excited about these 3 quality players returning to play in Utica to help defend there league championship for the 2010 season.
Brewers Sign Dominican College Outfielder Roberto Cruz.
Roberto attended Fulton Montgomery CC and played centerfield started as a freshmen. Roberto led the team in stolen 24 for 25...broke the school record with the most walks in a season with 46 and the most by a 2yr player...Roberto batted a 3.14 as freshmen and 340 as a soph. Roberto then received a scholarship to Dominican College a D-II AA School where he will be playing this year.
St Peters Shortstop Alberto Rodriguez signs with Brewers.
Freshman recruit from St. Peters College Alberto Rodriguez joins brewers for the 2010 summer season. Alberto attended Saint Joseph Regional high school where he was the starting shortstop. In his senior year, he played 23 games, had 61 AB, and had 22 runs, 29 RBI’s and 5 homeruns. Alberto is from Hackensack NJ and is 6'1 170lbs shortstop.

Brewers sign sophomore infielder and Pitcher Brendon Tivnan from Anna Maria College in Massachutes. Brendon is from Worcester Ma and attended St. Peter Marian High School.
Waldorf College 2nd Baseman Baamonde joins Brewers.
The Brewers signed infielder Jonathan Baamonde. JB is from Herndon Va. JB is a freshman 5'8" 160 2nd Baseman at Waldorf College in the state of Iowa. JB attended South Lakes High School in 2009 he played in 21 games had 64 at bats scored 21 runs 24 hits 5 doubles and 20 RBI's and hit .375 the Brewers are pleased to have JB on Board.
Former Fulton-Montgomery Standout utility infielder Osiris Mendez signs with Utica
The Utica Brewers Improved there offence and defense by signing Fulton-Montgomery standout utility infielder and power hitter 6'2" 230lb Osiris Mendez from Queens New York and Dominican Republic. Osiris is a graduate of Richmond Hill High School and is a jack of all trades as he plays catcher, third base and 1st Base. Osiris was selected to the all conference and all region teams his freshmen season, where he was primarily a catcher and third basemen. He played two years of varsity baseball in high school and was named team MVP his junior and senior year. He was also named to the PSAL 1st team all star his senior year of high school. Osiris Hit .407 scored 23 runs 13 doubles 3HR's 31RBI's at Fulton-Montgomery..
Anna Maria College Jeff Kodys Catcher/1st Baseman signes with Brewers

Brewers signed 6"1 245 Anna Maria College sophomore Catcher/1st Baseman Jeff Kodys. Jeff manned the catcher position for the AMCATS this year and was selected as a member of the All-TCCC Second Team. He completed the season batting .327 with 36 hits, seven doubles, three homers, 26 runs batted in, 20 runs scored, and 52 total bases; finishing among the top five on the club in each category. Jeff had nine multi-hit games on the year and drove in multiple runs seven times. With Kodys and all but one player returning next season, the AMCATS are poised to make a run in 2010.

Carter Franz of St.Lawrence University outfielder and 3rd baseman agrees to play for the Utica Brewers in the summer of 2010. Carter 6'1 180 is the younger brother of former Utica Brewer Shane Franz who attends Stoneybrook College and is in his senior year. Carter was a 4 year starter at Cazenovia Central HS , finished Senior year with
.509 batting avg. , was selected 1st Team all Liberty League in both Junior and Senior year , 2nd Team All - Central NY as a Senior and was also selected to the 5th Team All State in class B in his Senior year.

The Brewers signed U Albany sophomore 6"2 180 outfielder/infielder and Fort Plain standout Adam Cutspec. Adam is in his 2nd year at U Albany. Adam Attended Fort Plain High School was a Four-year letterwinner at Fort Plain... Batted .497 in his career, including a .554 average as a senior... Finished career with 144 hits, including 40 doubles, 14 triples and 13 home runs... Scored 136 runs and recorded 82 RBI over four years... Also tallied 47 stolen bases and a .866 career slugging percentage... Was a two-time All-State Class C first team honoree... Named the Co-MVP of the Western Athletic Conference as a junior and a senior... Was a first-team WAC All-Star as a freshman and sophomore... Took the team batting title for three consecutive seasons... Led Fort Plain to four straight Class C Section II championships.

The Utica Brewers Just added more depth today to there pitching staff by signing University of Albany freshman Left hander Kevin Bartlett. Kevin is 6'6" 205lbs and lives in East Lyme CT Kevin Attended East Lyme High School in 2009.

The Brewers signed Jason Winowiecki a 5"11 192lb right handed freshman pitcher from St.Peters College. Jason is from Traverse City Michigan. Jason attended Traverse City Central High School,in Traverse City, Michigan were he threw a perfect game and 2 no hitters in his 4 year tenure at TC Central. Jason also Broke the all time TC Central win record Second all time single season TC Central strike out record, and was Named to All District 1st Team Named to All Conference 1st Team Named to All Region Dream Team and Named to the All State 2nd Team in 2009. Set all-time TC Central win record Set all-time TC Central strikeout record and had a 1.33 Career high school ERA. the Brewers welcome Jason to the staff in route to another League Championship.

The Utica brewers signed 6'4 220lb Right handed relief pitcher from Long Island University Bryan Saffelle. Bryan attended Mansfield HS in Mass. Bryan is a hard throwing righty who led the State of Massachusetts in ERA as a senior at Mansfield High in 2009 the Brewers again are happy to add another quality arm to the pitching staff from LIU.

Long Island University Freshman right hander 6'3" 175lbs from Archbishop Molloy HS Christopher Franzese has agreed to play with the Brewers this summer. Chris is a hard throwing righty who topped out in high school at 88mph. Brewers welcome Franzese to the staff.
